The Spotlight on Downtown Inn

Affordable Comfort in the Heart of Asheville

Modern yet laid-back, Downtown Inn puts you right in the middle of Asheville's buzzing downtown scene. Just a short stroll from the US Cellular Center and countless music spots, this hotel offers a cozy, no-frills stay with added perks like a free breakfast, outdoor pool, and balconies with either city or mountain views. Each room comes with the essentials—flat-screen TV, microwave, fridge, and coffee maker—making your stay comfortable and convenient.

Why Concert-goers love it

Location is everything, and Downtown Inn delivers. You're walking distance from Asheville’s premier music venues, so there's no need to worry about post-show Ubers. The area is lively at night but the hotel itself stays relatively quiet, offering a welcome wind-down after a high-energy show. With a 4:00 PM check-in and early 6:00 AM check-out, it suits those on the move—but if you're planning to sleep in, bring an eye mask just in case.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a central crash pad
  • Solo travelers catching a dream concert
  • Couples making a romantic music-filled weekend
  • Fans who want a quiet spot to recharge after the encore
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who still want location perks

Food and Drink Options

A complimentary breakfast helps you bounce back after a night out, and with a microwave and fridge in every room, late-night snack options are covered. While there’s no on-site restaurant, you’re surrounded by walkable eateries, including local favorites and breweries just blocks away.

Nightlife Options

Start your night with a pint at Green Man Brewery, just a 10-minute walk away, or explore the many nearby bars and lounges offering live music and Asheville’s signature craft cocktails. While the hotel doesn’t host its own entertainment, downtown’s nightlife is your playground.

What People Say

Guests consistently praise the excellent location for concerts and downtown access, as well as the friendly staff and clean, comfortable rooms. The balcony views—especially those facing the mountains—are a fan favorite.

Areas for Improvement

The decor may feel a bit dated to some, and the early check-out time can be a challenge for late risers. A few guests mention that parking can be tight during busy weekends, but it’s free and on-site, which is a win downtown.

The Bottom Line

If you're headed to Asheville for a show and want a budget-friendly, walkable spot to rest your head, Downtown Inn hits the right notes.

Stayed here before; even better now; will stay again.

I questioned my choice before I actually got to the hotel. It turned out to be one of the cleanest rooms of any hotel I have been to. Breakfast was included, and it is right downtown. I would definitely stay again.

Liked: Location and staff.
Disliked: The hotel is outdated as far as decor goes.

Location, location, location - a short walk to several restaurants and bars. Five minutes away from the venue.

Liked: Clean room.
Disliked: Little outdated.

Disappointing - 2.0 out of 5

Robin, Takoma Park, visiting Thomas Wolfe Auditorium Mon, 28 October 2019

While the rooms were clean, this is a very old hotel that needs a major overhaul to update it. It was very noisy all night long. The volume on the TV did not work correctly and the lights in the bathroom would go on and off and to stay on.

Liked: The room was clean.
Disliked: The hotel is old and run down. The flooring in the lobby was coming up. The volume on the TV would go up and down on it's own. The light in the bathroom over the sink did not come on. We could hear the elevator and other people all night.
