Disliked: Very hot day and only a small fan in the room, had a hot night. Air conditioning would be fabulous

Beautiful place

Liked: Very helpful staff. Meals were exceptional.Proposed to my girlfriend which was the point of the weekend so very happy.
Disliked: Room in old part of building was small and dirty, half eaten strawberry in the bathroom drawer. Staff were excellent about sorting it out and moved us straight away to bigger room, and couldn't apologise enough.

Disliked: I paid £25 for a kids spaghetti Pomodoro for room service which I thought was very expensive and I wasn’t told about booking to use the spa so we couldn’t use it at all during our stay as fully booked which was a shame as was my Mums birthday

Sumptuous country escape close to...

Liked: We had a fantastic Easter weekend at Down Hall Hotel. The property is centered around a grand and gorgeous historic building, surrounded by stunning green grounds ideal for leisurely nature walks. The decor is very tasteful, and the rooms are spacious and comfortable, offering excellent value for a heritage property so close to London (less than 1 hour from Liverpool St station). Staff were very warm and accommodating, even letting us enjoy the lovely terrace late into the night. Every detail felt thoughtfully curated, from the cozy reading corners to the garden croquet set and stylish lounge and bar. The food was good, and we were close enough to the main town to enjoy some meals in town as well. A truly delightful stay!
Disliked: Spa was good (hydropool, sauna and steam room) but small and could use refurbishment and expansion.
