The Spotlight on DoubleTree by Hilton Bristol North

Relaxed Comfort Just Outside the City Beat

Modern, welcoming, and well-connected, the DoubleTree by Hilton Bristol North offers a peaceful retreat just 8 miles from Bristol’s bustling city centre. With easy access to the M4 and M5 motorways, it’s a smart choice for concert-goers looking to stay outside the noise but within reach of the action. The hotel blends comfort and convenience with perks like a heated indoor pool, sauna, and a fitness centre that's open 24/7.

Why Concert-goers love it

You’re close enough to the city to catch your favourite band, yet far enough for a quiet night’s sleep. Late check-out at 12:00 PM means you won't need to rush after a late gig. The hotel’s proximity to major motorways also makes it an ideal stop for those travelling in from nearby cities like Cardiff or Bath. With 24-hour room service and a lounge bar that serves Starbucks coffee, you’ll find plenty to refuel post-show.

Who this Hotel is great for

- Groups of friends road-tripping to a show
- Solo travelers chasing a bucket-list gig
- Couples making a weekend of a concert
- Fans who want peace and quiet after the encore
- Budget-conscious music lovers looking for value just outside the city

Food and Drink Options

Brunel’s Hat restaurant serves up British classics, while the lounge bar offers Starbucks drinks and light bites – ideal for a quick wind-down snack. 24/7 room service means munchies don’t have to wait. Breakfast is available and served late enough for those who sleep in after a big night.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself doesn’t host live music, it's a short drive or train ride to Bristol’s dynamic nightlife scene. You’ll find bars, clubs, and live venues in the city centre, while Cribbs Causeway nearby has restaurants and even a cinema and bowling for pre-show fun.

What People Say

Guests love the friendly staff, clean and quiet rooms, and the warm cookie welcome. The wellness facilities like the pool and sauna are a hit for those nursing tired dancing feet. Travelers also appreciate the easy parking and proximity to key transport links.

Areas for Improvement

The hotel isn’t in the city centre, so you’ll need a short drive or train ride to reach most venues. While the area is quiet, it’s more suburban than scenic – but that’s also what makes it restful.

The Bottom Line

A smart, comfortable base for concert-goers who want to enjoy Bristol’s music scene without the city-centre hustle.

Passable

Disliked: Charging for coffee in the restaurant if that is all one desired. Also could not order ala carte.Charging for parking the car in the large, mainly empty car park.

Superb

Liked: Room was very spacious and comfy
Disliked: The room keys (wooden type) wouldn’t work properly in the room so the lights kept turning off. I rang the reception a few times to tell them but no one answered the phone. I told the woman in reception when checking out and she told me they were busy on the Sunday evening and didn’t apologise

Comfortable hotel with friendly staff...

Liked: We wanted a comfortable stay with a swimming pool close to Bristol, and this hotel fit the bill! Staff were excellent - we asked to move rooms away from a connecting room which was a bit noisy, and were given one of the brand new rooms which was fantastic. Beds were comfy, breakfasts were good. My son loved the pool and hot tub.
Disliked: In our original conjoining room the noise from next door room was quite loud and bathroom was a bit outdated with a slight smell of mildew. Staff happily moved us though and we were very happy with the new room.

Comfortable, friendly, bonus cookies and...

Liked: Comfortable bed, free upgrade to superior room for Husbands birthday, staff are wonderful, food tasty and great location close to city centre.
Disliked: Breakfast was busy - no free tables, no cups or cutlery. Seems a small area for such a large hotel, it seemed they were struggling to keep up.

After a very difficult day...

Disliked: Very tired bathroom for the £230.00 cost of the room. Only towels for 1 person. Very underwhelming.

All in all a decent...

Liked: Excellent and friendly checking in with a staff member who knew what she was doing. Got us in slightly before the official check in time too which was a welcome bonus. Bar and restaurant areas were clean and tidy with a nice vibe. Car parking was easy, WIFI worked and everything was as expected. The pool area was good and facilities were more than adequate. The cleaning staff were good at their job and friendly in the corridors when passing which is always a nice touch
Disliked: There was no breakfast room service card in the room so I had to ring down for one. Was then called back 5 minutes later asking if I needed a breakfast room service card. I put it out, filled in, on the door before midnight but then when breakfast wasn't delivered at my allocated time I had to ring down to ask where it was. Eventually turned up at gone 10.30 am. The woman delivering it was friendly and deducted the tray charge but the whole event was overly complicated and frustrating. Breakfast was good though. Easy to remedy by adding a few spare cards into each room when being cleaned between guests? Another slightly poor thing was the mattress. It was just passable to sleep on but wasn't very comfortable. Maybe time to upgrade some of the older, sagging mattresses?
