Donner Lake Inn

Overall great location for hitting...

Liked: The property is family owned, and they show a great amount of care in ensuring you have a wonderful stay. They’re extremely accommodating, and make the whole process extremely easy so that the only thing you have to worry about is your stay. There’s great views of the nature around you, and the rooms really give you that cabin vibe.
Disliked: With our stay we actually have no gripes. Typically I could write something here but this time I actually don’t have anything bad to say. We really did enjoy our stay.

It was blissful. Comfortable room...

Liked: The bedroom was very comfortable. Amazing hot tub location right next to a rushing stream. The breakfast was excellent, especially the cheddar scone and overnight oats! I loved the fact I could get there without driving, by train to Truckee then the amazing microtransit TART service. And very helpful local restaurant recommendations!
Disliked: Would have liked oat milk for coffee in the morning, and yoghurt without gelatin. Would have been great to have some trail suggestions in the room.

Liked: I loved the location!!! Beautiful view and very close to the lake. Nice morning walk to see the sunrise on the lake!
Disliked: Can't rate the staff since we didn't see anyone. Decorative pillows were dirty and caused allergy symptoms when we were next to them. The bunk bed had a crack in it so my daughter was scared to sleep underneath it. Shower very small! Trash outside was full and next morning it was on the ground spread out around the trashcan.

Stay was excellent! We hope...

Liked: Breakfast was delicious. Self serve check-in and check-out was super convenient. Beds were comfortable. Wish there was a tub for the little ones to take a bath/shower in but we managed with the shower stall. Parking could have been a bit cleaner with icy patches for little ones to slip on.

Really appreciated the fireplaces in...

Liked: Breakfast was great! Above and beyond simple continental. Staff were attentive and responsive, much appreciated.
Disliked: We were traveling with my 82 year old mother. Maybe put a non skid mat in walkway to minimize slipping on wet surfaces???? Not a big deal just a suggestion. Typical winter weather so know you need to be careful outside.

Exceptional

Liked: The breakfast was awesome! I did not expect that. Breakfast burritos and croissant were a hit. loved the espresso machine!
Disliked: Just parking for larger vehicle is not the easiest.

Superb

Liked: Really good breakfast, cozy and well designed room, beautiful location.
Disliked: Parking spot was icy which made it a bit tricky to park the car.
