Beautiful Hotel

Liked: The room was gorgeous and quite large with a balcony. Below is the restaurant where we enjoyed breakfast (not included in the price).
Disliked: Didn't realize while the location is very central and convenient, it's very noisy. This plaza is a party place all night long, so definitely had to use the ear plugs they provided. Wish the breakfast had been included in the price.

Liked: Location is great! Staff could not have been more welcoming or helpful. Liked the room.
Disliked: Very noise at night in that area. They did give us a sound machine which helped.

Lovely staff and hotel interiors...

Liked: The reception staff was very friendly and competent. The interior of the hotel is lovely - great decor, beautiful bedrooms. The location is very central.
Disliked: This is NOT a 5 star hotel and should not be sold as one. The hotel would be near-perfect, if it was a 3-star hotel (in regards to services). - Breakfast: is outsourced at Bar Tomate. The bistro/bar is not part of the hotel and is understaffed and/or overwhelmed by the influx of walk-in tourists (it’s directly on the Placa Reial). You are forced to eat outside, even when it is cold. It was overall not a pleasant start to the day so we only ate there twice. Bar Tomate is their only in-house restaurant and the quality is not 5 star. - Room Service: also outsourced. The one evening we called at 10pm to order food, we were told it would take 1.5 hours. It seems there is one place that delivers to all Sonder hotels in Barcelona. I cannot comment on the quality of the food because we did not end up ordering, due to the wait. - Roof Terrace: It would be a lovely place to have a drink and chill, if it were serviced. We were told it would be serviced between 5 and 9 pm, but that was not the case. One has to get the drinks at the ground floor and then take the elevator to the 4th. (Side-note: If you have a drink in each hand, you can’t easily use the lift, since you need to take out your key-card). The roof top is also open to tourists, which would be fine if AT LEAST it was serviced. I sincerely hope the hotel / the authorities reconsider labelling this place as a 5-star hotel, I find this VERY misleading.- it wouldn't hurt to update your TVs, which are very small for no apparent reason.

Liked: room was great - good decor / boutqiue. Very central location which is also a bit noisey but you are in the thick of it !

Fantastic location and great staff

Liked: The room was just lovely and spacious with a balcony overlooking the plaza. The bathroom was well equipped and comfortable. We were staying here when there was a major power outage across Spain and the hotel were extremely helpful. The staff here were great and very attentive. The noise throughout the night and early morning from the plaza was very loud but the hotel acknowledges this and provides ear plugs. It didn’t bother us too much but might others.
Disliked: The breakfast atmosphere ~ a bit cold on the plaza outside

Perfect stay, location, staff and...

Liked: Location was excellent and the staff were just lovely and couldn’t do enough for us
Disliked: The weather was poor one day and that is all

Disappointing

Liked: Good location
Disliked: The room light controls were a series of push buttons without any indication of what they controlled. It's hard to believe, but true.Exremely irritatingThere was no wastepaper basket in the bathroom,,,,,seriously.

Fabulous views over a fabulous...

Liked: The view overlooking Plaza Reial is spectacular. Probably the finest location to stay in Barcelona. The four poster bed was large and comfortable and the room very spacious.
Disliked: Check in time was 4pm - I am used to a 2pm check in time and this would have been far more preferable. Charging for an early check in was also something I have not encountered before and unwelcome. Also too many emails asking for a review even before I had checked in became irritating.
