I can't believe a hotel this size doesn't have a few designated smoking rooms for the smoking population. The room I reserved cost a total of $195.00. When I checked out, I was given a receipt for valet parking for $20.14. I was totally shocked. I could not believe I just spent $195 on a room that was not $195 quality and I get charged for valet parking. Every hotel I have ever stayed at has complimentary valet parking. I could have parked at the Des Moines airport all week and not spent on parking what I did at the Marriott. This was very disappointing and chances are I will not stay at this Marriott again in the future.

Liked: It was close to the HyVee Hall and if able to go before closed many restaurants in the area. We did enjoy the pool area and the fact they had beach sized towels to dry off. Room was clean and comfortable.
Disliked: Breakfast time. We had to be at the venue hall by 6:15, so there was no breakfast option. Unless we got into our car and rove some where which doesn’t make sense based on the location, our athlete went without.y fault for not researching the times and ability to access. Nothing opened until 6:30, and honestly there were many moving around at the same time as us. Also, everything felt like an up charge.

Liked: Staff was very pleasant. The lounge waitress was wonderful. Location was handy for us to where we needed to be.
Disliked: Valet parking fee was ridiculous. We parked a block down the street in a ramp and our total charge was less than 1/4 of what the hotel valet would have charged me. Beds were not very comfortable. Hot water not available from 8am-4pm.
