Exceptional

Liked: Beautiful setting, history of the property.
Disliked: The pool area was more for adults. It would be great to have an area for children.

Disappointing and would not recommend.

Liked: The grounds were nice and most staff were friendly and relatively helpful. There was plenty of marking and the lobby and main hotel was pretty.
Disliked: I was staying here for four nights for a work conference and felt it did not meet the advertised 4-star rating by a fair margin. The room was in one of the standalone buildings on the grounds and was tired, dirty, and dated. The fridge temperature was 15 degrees - I was initially told someone would be out in the evening to fix it, but nobody came. When I went back I was informed by another staff member that it was only a cooler and if we needed anything properly chilled (I needed a fridge for my insulin) I would need to keep it in the fridge in reception with a luggage tag which was a five minute walk away as I was staying in the grounds. To their credit, the third member of staff did get a proper fridge on the final ask. Food was mediocre for the price. The weather was hot the first night and there was no air conditioning. I imagine the rooms in the main hotel itself are probably better, hence some people are giving a much better rating. I didn't really use the facilities (spa, pool, gym, golf course etc) as I was busy during the day so can't comment on them but the grounds and hotel lobby were nice. Overall, based on my experience I would not recommend this hotel simply because in my opinion it was overpriced, dated, and the room was grubby, a little stuffy, the fridge was dirty and smelled bad, and didn't work. Some staff were more helpful than others. UPDATE: they did offer a discounted price (one free night) for the above issues, which I was grateful for.
