Very clean property. Friendly and professional staff. Greeted by every staff member with a smile! Nice.
Liked: Friendly staff. Lulu at the front desk was a pleasure and was quick to volunteer the info we needed for our stay!

Liked: JL hotel manager comped my parking, and gave me a free small bottle of wine. She was very apologetic and concerned. Room was very nice!
Disliked: Room was not ready at check in; front desk receptionist Althea was rude; complications with correct bed assignment for my room.

Liked: Clean and the room has everything you need
Disliked: Not the hotels fault but construction going on all night. Everything is so loud. You can hear everything happening in the hallways in your room.

Overpriced pet fee
Liked: Comfortable bed
Disliked: Being told on the phone that pet fee is $35 and finding out at Checkin that fee is actually $75 very misleading

Disliked: Bed / pillows were not comfortable ...cable went out in the middle of a movie and front desk didnt know what to do. Check out listed as 12 but housekeeping was knocking on doors at 10am to see if they could clean

Liked: The valet and bell staff were very pleasant and accommodating. I had to leave my car upfront while I checked my father in and they were very understanding about it - told me not to rush. The clerk at check in (Abigail) was very pleasant as well. She was the representative I spoke to over the phone to solve the missing reservation issue (see below). Also, they were able to give us a late check out upon request. We were glad to have the ability to check out after his doctor's appointments instead of rushing to do it at 8am.
Disliked: The hotel was perfect once the disconnect between Booking.com and the property was resolved. I called to confirm that they had the reservation on file and it couldn't be located. The confirmation email from Booking was useless since it's not what they use in their system. My father was traveling for medical reasons and had made a long road trip to get here. Finding out in the 11th hour that the reservation couldn't be found was unnecessary stress. The rep at the hotel told me to call Booking to find out the confirmation number used by Delta. I was on hold for at least 10 min trying to find out the issue. The rep at Booking explained that there was some sort of conflict between the two systems - she could see it on their end but the hotel couldn't. I was on hold while she tried to get someone on the phone at the property - to no avail. Eventually she told me that if they couldn't confirm the reservation at the property within 30 minutes, it would be moved to a comparable property. Again, this is stressful as my father was en route and i needed to direct him where to go. I asked her to move on it as quickly as possible. I decided to call back to the property rather than wait and fortunately, the issue had been resolved. They could see the reservation in the system and we were able to check in without issue.

Really not a good experience.
Liked: Although 2 women were working on checking 3 guys in the entire time, Preston did a great job picking up the slack and was very polite while checking in 4 or 5 people in front of me.
Disliked: My only legitimate complaint is related to circumstances beyond the properties direct control, but did present quite an inconvenience at the very least. The power went out at the time I was checking out of my 8th floor room, being as the elevators were not in service, I was told I would have to walk with my luggage down the stairs. Upon arriving downstairs, I was then unapologetically told there was no way to get to my car, but to walk up the street to the garage. Since nobody even offered to watch my luggage, I was left with no option but to walk up the street with 2 bags and shirts in towe.

Liked: Staff and accommodations were excellent. The view from our room was awesome of the James River. And the location was perfect to what we wanted to do. Only minutes from great restaurants.
