Disappointing the problems with the...

Liked: The staff were very pleasant and helpful and the accommodation was clean and comfortable
Disliked: The restaurant was terrible. We weren't told we could order items for breakfast from the kitchen until the 2nd day and although it was self service at breakfast they were slow at restocking the hot breakfast items such as fried eggs. The evening meal had long waiting times (40 minutes between courses on the first night) and my meal was cold when I finally received it with the other members of my party having eaten their meals before my replacement meal arrived. On the second night we waited 70 minutes before our meal arrived so after this we decided not to eat in the restaurant on the 3rd night. The bar and alcoholic drinks were expensive (wine £33 a bottle) and there was no atmosphere in the bar with few people choosing to sit in there

Liked: Friendly helpful staff, room size, easy parking, location, quiet room, umbrellas available, useful signposting in corridors.
Disliked: Lumpy bed, blocked shower drain and basin on arrival, hinge broken on fridge cupboard door, few tea bags.

Modern centrally located Durham city...

Liked: Central but quiet location with parking. Situated by the river with Durham city attractions within walking distance. Large rooms and bathrooms. Tea and coffee making facilities in room. Additional items if needed available in reception area. Excellent water fountain providing still or sparkling water. Good breakfast buffet.
Disliked: It’s large and spread over two buildings so to get to our rooms with luggage entailed walking and using two lifts. Without luggage we used the stairs. Those less able would need to inform the hotel in advance.

Nice hotel, lovely staff especially...

Liked: Stayed as part of a group and the dinner on the first two nights were not up to the standard we expected. This was addressed by the tour manager and the last nights dinner was much improved.
Disliked: Pillows, the most uncomfortable pillows which kept falling down in the gap between the wall and mattress. Too soft gave absolutely no support.

Liked: Reception staff very friendly and welcoming.Comfy bed and pillows.Restaurant staff and the chefs were very accommodating especially where the choice was concerned for the coeliac diet. Thank you.
Disliked: No gluten free biscuits available in the room, or pastries at breakfast.
