Overpriced, tries to live up...
Liked: Beautiful grounds, stunning place to stay.
Disliked: Rooms was definitely below average, they was clean but needs a lot of work. The bathroom shower leaks everywhere because the screen is useless.DO NOT go for dinner at the hotel. We saw a mixed reviews on google and thought, let’s just give it a go!We got sat down after stood waiting 10 mins for some to come up to us at the front desk (many walked by and saw us), young lad took our drinks and food order at the same time and we waited about 40 mins until he came back and said our order didn’t go through. We thought “oh just a simple mistake, don’t worry about it” so we waited and 30 mins, we finally received our drinks.Another 30 mins goes by still no food, at this point we thought maybe the food order wasn’t ever put through. We waited another 20 mins and eventually it showed up. We ordered a fillet steak and a lamb steak. Fillet steak was the toughest thing my partner had ever had, not to mention the fact it was covered in black pepper so that’s all he could taste. My lamb barely had any meat on it, pretty much pure gristle. We asked for a dessert menu when our plates was taken away, took 40 mins for someone to come back to us to ask what we wanted for dessert but at that point we have had enough and just asked for the bill and left.KEEPING IN MIND, there was plenty of staff (more than likely “Front of house” or “Managers” because they was dressed in suits and doing naff all to help out their poor underpaid staff) standing about chatting and ‘Setting up tables’ which btw they was doing that same table of four the whole time we was there. That dinner ruined our night and time there and we got back to our room packed up and left the same night we arrived. We paid £170 for ONE night, and i have had better service, nicer and more up to date rooms for HALF the price. If you ask me (an actual manager) the restaurant Managers and all those lazy ….. need the sack. Start fresh and you’ll probably succeed a lot more, they let the place a lot more than you think.

Terrible experience with the facilities,...
Liked: The scenery or outside environment is averagely okay.
Disliked: Its just like a very very old hotel with very minimal refurbishing, nothing modern about the rooms and neither is it proper old school so its just poorly done hotel using a big brand’s name to collect people’s money, I checked in with my wife and my 1 year old, nothing at all to support our baby’s stay, shower was attached to the wall, we had to beg them to get us a jug so we can scoop water to bathe our baby in the morning, heating was so poor and we were cold all night, I have never wasted £177 like I did by staying at this hotel, I wonder how they got so may positive reviews, must be share holders of the hotel.

Extremely disappointed.
Liked: Quiet location close to Derby.
Disliked: Our room, 351, was extremely cold with only a small electric wall mounted heater to heat both the bedroom and the bathroom. We searched for spare blankets but none available and at 2am felt it was too late to call reception. The bathroom had no heating at all not even a heated towel rail which meant it was too cold to shower or use the bath. We could draw our names in the dust on the furniture. The Reception staff were apologetic but after speaking to the Manager who said we would compensate us and email, we are still waiting for the email 2 weeks later. We booked via Booking.Com which seemingly makes a part refund difficult.

Quiet. Great setting but simply...
Liked: It was quiet. A lovely setting. Comfy pillows.
Disliked: Couldn't get into the sauna or jacuzzi because others were sitting in there for a long time.TV didn't work properly - need to use own Netflix, etc to watch anything decent - but it didn't work properly.

Old
Disliked: The building the stairs and the long distance inside the hotel to reach to the rooms.Too old building, too far from everything.
