Convenient, functional, depressing.
Liked: Staff on check in was friendly and courteous. Location is convenient, right on the M1 and being next to a service station, easy to get a few bits and bobs to eat. Had a quiet room that faced the back which was appreciated. Apart from a 5am wake up call by the neighbour (when my earplugs had fallen out) I slept well. Bonus secret exit to get onto the Northbound carriageway or A5 that saved me 20 minutes.
Disliked: I know this is a budget hotel, and I Know it's at a service station, but christ it was a depressing place to stay at for the night. It's old and tired and appears to be unloved. Everything worked, it was mostly clean, it was a good sized room, but it just felt a bit grubby. The bed was very soft. The walls and floors and ceilings were thin and earplugs would be an essential item to take (unless you are deaf). I can't prove it, but I suspect the place is entirely made of MDF. If the big bad wolf turned up and huffed and puffed too hard I reckon he could blow the place down....
