Days Inn by Wyndham San Diego-East/El Cajon

When I arrived the lobby was closed. I had to wait more than 20 minutes to open. The receptionist had a rude attitude. If I had a question she ignored me and told me to wait.

Liked: Horrible.
Disliked: Yes.

I don't recommend this hotel

Liked: Is just a regular room with AC
Disliked: The restroom had babies cockroach. The toilet chain was not working all day running water. Breakfast is really bad. Boiling eggs. The orange juice was orange with water. Breakfast was bad.

Disliked: Front desk was not friendly or welcoming, and seemed to dislike her job. Secondly we were surprised to see a massive cockroach in our room only 3 hours into our stay. We decided this was not the place we would feel comfortable staying and decided to get check out at 10:30PM after only checking in at 7PM. When this was brought to her attention she did not seem surprised or sympathetic however I did understand she would not be able to help with any refunds etc as she was not the manager.The following day we called the hotel again as directed by the front desk associate the night prior to connect with a manager. We were greeted on the phone by a different woman who had a very similar rude tone. She did mention she was not the manager but I still explained the situation to this associate as well. She again like the other associate was not surprised by the cockroach being in the room and had no sympathy either. She immediately said we wouldn’t be getting a refund as we stayed 3 hours in the room. However I did explain to her again we would’ve stayed our entire stay had a cockroach not been in the room. She in other words said that did not matter since we had stayed 3 hours. She also said it was the “season for cockroaches and this is normal for hotels and houses since it’s summer” ?? I’m not sure of any establishments where cockroaches are acceptable because of the weather? I also explained to her I have never stayed at a hotel where cockroaches were acceptable. She kept repeating herself that other guests have complained as well and it’s out of their control. In response I also said the cockroach being in our room was out of my control as well and I shouldn’t have to pay for a room I did not stay in and that had a massive cockroach. I don’t think her, or anyone working there would want to stay in a room that had a cockroach crawling around either.

Liked: The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable, but the pillows were not great. After the first night, my family began experiencing muscle spasms, which was concerning.The air conditioner is quite loud and shuts off when it reaches the set temperature—it seems to be an older unit—but it did cool the room effectively.Breakfast was good, though it could use some improvements—perhaps replacing the frozen waffles with a waffle machine would be a nice upgrade.The pool area was enjoyable but could benefit from more thorough cleaning. The jacuzzi was relaxing, although the chlorine smell was quite strong.Overall, it’s a good value for the price. With a few improvements, this place has the potential to be a solid 5-star stay.
