Affordable Comfort Steps from Downtown Missoula's Music Scene

Modern, no-fuss, and ideally located, Days Inn and Suites by Wyndham Downtown Missoula-University offers budget-friendly comfort right in the heart of Missoula. Just a short walk from the University of Montana and the scenic Clark Fork River, this hotel is a solid pick for music fans who want to stay close to the action without the downtown price tag.

Why Concert-goers love it

This hotel is just a quick 8-minute walk to the University of Montana—a regular stop for touring artists. Its central location means you can catch a show, grab a bite, and be back in your room without needing a ride. The nearby River Walk Trails offer a peaceful way to wind down after a loud night, and while the hotel is right downtown, it’s far enough from late-night hotspots to offer a quiet night’s sleep. The 3pm check-in and 11am checkout give you time to settle in and sleep in, especially after a late encore.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends heading to a show together
  • Solo travelers ticking off a bucket-list concert
  • Couples making a weekend of it in Missoula
  • Fans looking for a quiet place to recharge post-gig
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who want to stay close to the venue

Food and Drink Options

Start your day after a late night with the daily grab-and-go breakfast, included for all guests. While the hotel features an on-site restaurant, you’re also within walking distance of several downtown eateries, from pizza joints to local breweries. While there's no 24-hour room service, the vending machines and nearby late-night spots are enough to keep hunger at bay.

Nightlife Options

You’re within walking distance of Missoula’s lively downtown scene, including cozy bars, craft breweries, and music lounges. Whether you're looking for a second set or just a nightcap, options abound nearby. While the hotel itself doesn’t offer live entertainment, the central location makes it easy to find your vibe.

What People Say

Guests rave about the walkable location, especially for events at the University or local venues. Many appreciate the affordable rates and the ability to explore downtown on foot. The rooms are described as clean and functional, and the free breakfast is a welcome touch for early risers or late sleepers.

Areas for Improvement

While the hotel is well-located, some guests note that the décor feels a bit outdated. WiFi isn’t always free, and the breakfast is basic, so those looking for a full spread might want to eat out. But for the price, most agree it’s a great deal.

The Bottom Line

An affordable, no-frills stay in a prime downtown Missoula location—perfect for concert-goers who want to be close to the stage and still sleep soundly.

Disappointing - 2.0 out of 5

Lisa, Boze, visiting Top Hat Missoula Wed, 23 August 2023

This hotel has not kept up with maintenance issues, and they seem to be short staffed. Although the staff was friendly. We noticed issues with slow drains when we arrived and poor toilet flow, and ended up having to plunge our toilet for an hour the next morning because we didn't want housekeeping to have to deal with it. Damage to walls in bathroom that was poorly patched, and wax seal of toilet was showing. Maintenance and repairs are needed. I was disappointed based on others reviews I had read.

Liked: Location; close to downtown.
Disliked: Dirty; toilet and drain issues; loud A/C unit.

Liked: The room was clean.
Disliked: The fan cover was missing in the bathroom and there was a large rust stain in the tub. The breakfast burritos were mainly a lot of cubed potatoes and were not good.

Poor - 1.0 out of 5

Anonymous Mon, 2 June 2025

Not good.

Liked: The manager Sandra was polite.
Disliked: I got there after check in time and was told I had to wait 30 min, then I was told my room type wasn't available and if a king and sofa bed would work. I took that option but the sofa bed didn't even have sheets on it. At checkout when I told the lady at the front desk she just said the sheets should be in a drawer. I'm not sure why the sofa wasn't made?

Not a fan.

Liked: The staff
Disliked: Icky. Dirty. Boogers & blood on the bathroom wall. Big black chunk of hair on bathroom floor. Unhomed person living in the lawn. Bathroom sink wouldn’t drain. Train horn so loud as it passed.

Bad service

Liked: The coffee in the room was a nice touch. Beds were made properly and comfortable.
Disliked: Rooms lacked proper lighting. It was so dark I couldn't find my clothes in my bag without a flashlight even with all the lights on. Heater/Ac unit stinks definitely needs cleaning. Hair in the shower. No screen on the windows? that seems unsafe to me. No tissues, I had to blow my nose with toilet paper. I had a bad experience with the breakfast lady she was glaring and rude just bothering us for no reason. I cannot stress enough how much I disliked our interaction. Customer service is not optional. I paid to be here you can't demand I leave for no good reason. I understand that it's frustrating when customers are slow and don't put things back right away but please tell her to chill out so it's not stressful in the breakfast area. I wasn't even done making toast and she was following me around putting tongs away when I literally turned my back for 2 seconds to put the bread in the toaster. I felt like she didn't even give us a chance to clean up after ourselves I don't appreciate being chased around in the morning and watched like a hawk. I will not be returning to this location.
