Disappointing - 2.0 out of 5

Disappointed

Liked: Not a lot! The first room we were given was not very clean, the bathroom was dirty with cracked tiles around the toilet and a dirty shower and paint peeling off the walls, there were issues with the plumbing as the sink was blocked. When my husband went to complain the receptionist suggested we clean our teeth in our daughters room as she was also staying there, not the response we expected or needed especially as her room was 2 flights downstairs, a walk across the courtyard and another flight of stairs to climb. My husband suggested that whilst we were out that evening the problem needed to be resolved as there were apparently no other rooms available. Fortunately the sink was unblocked on our return. The next morning however we tried to take a shower and within less than 2 minutes the shower was 2 inches deep in water as that drain was also blocked. We again complained and my husband was directed to use another shower down the corridor. They suggested we pack all our things up and they would put us in an alternative room later that day. We went off to our wedding venue and on our return we went to our newly allocated room which did not have any plumbing issues. The whole experience was very unsatisfactory. Our daughter’s room was also dirty with other peoples hair in the recess between the shower door and she felt the carpets were unclean also. The whole place needs a complete revamp. The corridors and staircases are shabby everywhere, the windows are in desperate need of renovation or replacement as a lot of them are rotten. The breakfast room and the White Hart pub is also shabby and not at all clean. There were bird feathers on the canopy of the breakfast buffet, the doors are dirty and covered in bits. It is a shame because the buildings are beautiful as is the setting, the grounds are very well maintained and the gardens, the herbaceous borders around the courtyard are spectacular and it is very peaceful.

Disappointing, don’t mind paying abit...

Liked: The gardens and the cafe were lovely. Good shower.
Disliked: The bed was really uncomfortable. The pub was shut but we had not been made aware in advance. The breakfast was disappointing and the hot food was lukewarm.
