Close to ideal.

Liked: Small, quiet hotel, a short walk from the village. Surrounded by its own grounds. Extensive views. Family run, and a warm welcome from the family. Good resident's lounge and a cosy bar with a wide selection of whiskies. Excellent breakfast. Possibly Scotland's most impressively engineered bath and shower!Good base for exploring the northeastern part of the Cairngorms National Park, the Abernethy Nature Reserve and the RSPB Osprey site at Loch Garten.
Disliked: No lift. No restaurant.
