Superb

Liked: The castle was very nice and the food was top.
Disliked: More and more hotels and restaurants in UK charge automatically service fees on top of the booking cost, which can be a significant amount if you stay for more than 1 night.

A wonderful castle experience.

Liked: Falconry and Dungeon Restuarant plus some glorious walks. We drove 5 minutes to the local station, parking is free. Train tickets online, great value. Trip to Edinburgh City, just 20 minutes away by train. A great day out, Edinburgh Castle, Old Town and New town- so much to see.
Disliked: Nothing. We had a wonderful stay. Staff excellant.

Disappointing - 2.0 out of 5

Amenities dated

Liked: The building and grounds look great
Disliked: Very dated. Staff didn’t give us clear info on anything. The castle missed the boat telling about its history. The trails are unmarked thru the woods. Simple changes could have made the experience a lot better

The grounds and castle were...

Liked: The castle and property were beautiful!!
Disliked: We were travelling by train. It was difficult to get a taxi from the train station to the castle. The last day of our stay, we attempted to get a hold of the front counter to call us a taxi to meet us at the train station in Newtongrange. There was no answer (tried 6 times), I left a message on the voicemail. Did not get a response from the Castle so we had to walk from the train station. I was not very enjoyable. When we arrived to the castle, the woman who was at reception when we left was driving around in the golf cart with the porter, they left the main entrance and just happen to be at Castle Rocks when we arrived. Needless to say, we were not impressed with the fact no one called us back.
