A wonderful break in lovely...

Liked: The castle, the room, the staff, the food were all superb
Disliked: Confusing messages from Booking.com repeatedly telling us we were booked in The Lodge, which we were NOT. This needs sorting out.

Highly recommended, with very professional...

Liked: Brilliant castle with lots of character, very comfortable rooms, and excellent facilities. But, above all: incredible staff. When we accidentally left an item in the room, Jamie and the reception staff kindly packaged them up and posted them back to us - very impressed. Also really enjoyed the brilliant food at the Orangery. Very nice grounds, with plenty to see on a long walk.
Disliked: I believe the Dungeon dining experience could be improved. Brilliant staff, but as a vegetarian, the options were limited, and very expensive - in contrast to excellent options at the Orangery at Dalhousie Castle. Weather had damaged some of the steps around the grounds, making some very exciting decents along the walk.

Very good Stay despite a...

Liked: The stay in the actual castle was amazing. The breakfast was top notch and the food overall was of high quality and decent portion sizes. The spa facilities were ok and the stone massage was so relaxing. The fact that you could use the spa facilities everyday of your stay for 90 minutes was a great idea. The grounds the castle is situated in are spectacular, secluded and quiet. Even though the nearest villages are only a mile away it definitely felt like you were getting away from it all
Disliked: Our first nights stay in the lodge was not so good. It felt like you weren't part of the castle experience. No room service and no phone to communicate with the castle itself. I'm glad i upgraded to the castle accommodation for the remaiming 3 nights of our stay. Both of the steam rooms weren't working for our entire 4 night stay, which was very disappointing. We struggled with booking meal times as well. We weren't told about doing this beforehand on the website at all. The website needs to state that if you're staying in the lodges that your facilities are limited.Apart from these issues the stay was very good and I would thoroughly recommend staying there

Castle experience is a must!...

Liked: It’s a beautiful historic castle, what’s not to like?! The dungeon dining was fantastic. Breakfast was also delicious and in a beautiful setting. It’s outside the city so you need a taxi but totally worth it!
Disliked: Some of the amenities in the spa were down and the beds were not super comfortable.

A very enjoyable experience on...

Liked: We liked it so much because obviously it was a very old castle and it was so Grande and mystique, and has so much history dating back 800 years , it was finished to the highest standards also , plus it was so quiet which was great also .
Disliked: The room was slightly to dark we stayed in the comwell suite even with the lights on it was hard to see
