We stayed at the castle...

Liked: The room was located in the lodge. It was very spacious with a separate lounge and big bathroom. Although a bit tired the room was a great size and lovely and quiet.
Disliked: Unfortunately the hot water was tepid at best. Breakfast was a buffet style and lacked any real substance. The decor in the breakfast room was tired.

Liked: it?s grounds and the castle the spa was gorgeous although I had a fall on the wet floors ?so that didn?t help my stay.
Disliked: the breakfast was awful all cold. we did complain on day one but yet day 2 was even worse. poor staff we?re running around mad. no clean tables and had run out of milk juice jams on tables because there weren?t enough staff. we we?re also not told we wouldn?t be staying in the castle itself we were put down the road in the lodge which was lovely but not for me.

A wonderful stay in a...

Liked: We had a wonderful stay at Dalhousie Castle. We had been traveling around England and Scotland for a fortnight and had visited several castles on our trip. So we were searching for castles in which we could stay and the beautiful Dalhousie castle came up. Dalhousie castle is Scotland oldest inhabited castle and both the castle and the interiors are stunning. The luxurious Library, and various beautifully decorated lounge areas, the entrance with the staircase and the exquisite ceiling and the castle grounds where you can take beautiful strolls. We only stayed for one night, but had I known what a fantastic time we would have at the castle I would have booked more nights, but they were all booked up so we couldn't extend our stay. Everything was just perfect and exceeded my expectations. I give Dalhousie Castle my best recommendations.

Amazing stay in a beautiful...

Liked: I booked this stay as an anniversary treat for my husband. When we arrived our room was smaller than I expected, so I rang reception to ask if there was anything else available. Theresa on Reception met me and showed me a much nicer room, and was really helpful. When we couldn't get a taxi to the Witchery for a 5pm booking Theresa drove us there in her own car!!She was amazing! Please pass on our thanks to her and we hope to see her next time.
Disliked: I didn't realise how far we were from the centre of town.

Disappointing. The place feels tired...

Liked: The dinner food and service was outstanding as would be expected at an establishment of this standard
Disliked: Breakfast was a joke dried overcooked sad offering from a Bain Marie. We even made sure we were first to breakfast the second day hoping for fresher food and not overcooked. Sadly no better.

Good

Liked: The whole castle is astonishingly beautiful. Felt lovely to walk around and visit the different rooms, just as we expected in a 700 years old castle. The whole property was well maintained including our rooms.
Disliked: There was a misunderstanding while we made the booking online via Booking.com and this is something we are very upset about. It was not a cheap stay. (£410.40 per night for the four of us considered not cheap.)We were travelling to there to stay IN the castle building. We were waiting for it as it will be our best night ever. When you come to the point, where the room options listed (with or without breakfast, double room/twin room etc.) you can see the name of the room you are about to book. Ours called "Lodge Room". We did not know it will be 60 metres from the castle hidden in the back garden where you can not even see the castle from. Booking.com should consider updating the platform and make travellers aware so their stay will not end up in a big disappointment as ours did.

Pleasant

Liked: The views from our room were lovely.
Disliked: Staff was not very attentive, waited a very long time to get service in the bar. Room service was served in a cardboard box. Also, place could use some maintenance or updating...I know it's a historic castle but the carpet wasn't even tacked down and was missing spots in the bar. We watched the waitress trip 3 times...on the third time unfortunately her tray of drinks went flying!
