Birthday break but a little...

Liked: Our room was nicely furnished with ample storage and adequate space.
Disliked: EV charging was apparently unavailable but we discovered a car actively charging. When we questioned this we were told we were mistaken. Our air con failed both nights we were there. A very nice gentleman came to our room in the evening and said it would be repaired the following day, he brought with him a handful of sweets and chocolate and a drinks voucher which we found cute he also then got us some fans. 4 people in one room can become quite warm! However when we returned from our day out the next day we discovered it wasn’t repaired at all. We found breakfast was very average. We’ve had much nicer in other hotels of the same rating. Low choice of pastries, pretty sure fruit bar on the second day was leftovers from the previous day, cooked breakfast in general was very underwhelming. Our toilet roll wasn’t topped up on our second day meaning we ran out on our last day. I went to reception and requested more on our way back up after breakfast but after 20 mins I then had to phone to request more, which took another 10-15 minutes to arrive, so half an hour wait for toilet roll. We also ran into some difficulty at check out. The receptionist was trying to charge us twice. When we checked in full payment was taken which it shouldn’t have been, they were supposed to just keep our card details. We were charged our room rate plus an extra £50. At checkout she was insisting we hadn’t paid despite my husband resorting to showing her his banking activity. In the end a manager got involved and confirmed we had paid!! If it wasn’t for the last negative at check out I would’ve given an extra star but this debate went on for about 20 minutes and caused embarrassment and frustration. It wasn’t a nice end to our stay.

Disliked: It is a very basic hotel and the quality of breakfast was not great. It is a very expensive stay for what you get

Liked: Staff great, room great, food great, location for crucible theatre...petfect.

Comfortable large room but let...

Liked: Room was a good size and clean and what we expected for two double bed room. Modern looking and comfortable. Good sized bathroom with two wash basins. Room amenities were as expected. Good sized Central location. Parking was available.
Disliked: 1. The bath tap temperature regulator was broken. This meant only scalding hot water was available for the bath. So not used. 2. They are struggling for staff. Nobody answered when we rang reception. I had to go to reception myself to speak to someone. They directed me to the restaurant to order room service! 3. The walls are really thin. We could hear the next door room’s entire conversations clearly late in to the night. 4. There was a wedding party that was allowed to drink outside till late. The windows allow in all the noise and the party should have been stopped at a good time to help guests to sleep. 5. As a result none of us got a good night’s sleep and our children were going for competitions the next day. 6. If the above are issues for guests, do not book this hotel.
