Budget accomodation in the heart...

Liked: The location was brilliant. In the heart of the city with easy access to trains, buses, and ferries, plus all the shops and malls nearby and central tourist attractions. The room was good. It had the basics, and the hairdryer was great-it meant I didn't need to pack one. Comfy beds and 2 pillows for each bed in the room. Lots of hot water made for great showers after being out and about walking the city all day. Soap and shampoo, and conditioner are provided. They cleaned our room each day we requested it with a door tag. Security was really good at the hotel, with key card access to the front doors. 24-hour desk personnel is a bonus. I liked the little foyer area, so I could go out to it to make phone calls and jump on meetings overseas during the night and not wake my daughter. A late checkout of 11 am was wonderful.
Disliked: It would have been great to have a microwave, a toaster, plates, a knife, and forks. We were there for 6 days altogether and didn't want to purchase takeaways or meals out for every meal. We were on a tight budget, we made it work, but it would of been great to have these in the room-I wouldn't of minded paying a little extra because it would have saved us in food bills over our stay. The beds were comfy but needed more blankets-we had to crank up the heat to stay warm, and luckily I took a hot water bottle. Also, the door had a huge gap under it and a gap up it. I plugged the lower gap with a towel to keep the heat in, but perhaps providing a draft stop would be helpful. The back of the door could do with a clean, and some maintenance to a continuously running toilet would be good. The staff only had one spare blanket to give my daughter, and it was very cold overnight while we were there, so I think they need to invest in a few more.
