Very good

Liked: Food was good, beautiful place, room was nice but dated, extremely clean though
Disliked: Drink prices are a bit ott.Bed wasn't comfortable at all.Leisure facilities are vague, very small jacuzzi, struggle to get loungers.Couple next to me waited over an hour for their food, I ordered after them and finished just as theirs arrived, didn't affect me but it was uncomfortable...I felt sorry for them!! Sadly not sure I would rush back, it's local to me and there are cheaper, better equipped spas within equal distance!!!

A mediocre experience overall that...

Liked: The old part is stunning with beautiful grounds. Reception offers a real wow factor when you walk in.Good parking and a long way from the town centre so was quiet and felt safe. The swimming pool and related facilities were nice and of a high standard.Staff throughout were of a high calibre, pleasant and helpful. The Standard Room in the Modern Wing was a good size, clean, well appointed and with a bathroom that had a separate shower cubicle from the bath. Large bed, good TV, desk and chairs. Proper wardrobe with hangers, safe, iron, fridge, tea making facilities, iron and ironing board plus a trouser press. Spare towels and pillows also included.
Disliked: Thanks to the modern wing, it’s a sprawling establishment so not ideal if mobility is an issue – but if you have a scooter, it’s fine thanks to multiple lifts throughout. The restaurant/brasserie are together at the far end of the modern wing. They lack the character and charm of the old part so I was surprised to pay such high prices for the food.Parking as you come up the drive is limited. There is generous parking through the arch on the left but it’s poorly signposted.Bedroom - tired looking. The mattress felt well used and no plugs beside the bed for medical devices, phone chargers etc. Three pin round plugs in the corners were unusable but they provided a very long extension cable from the normal sockets on the desk.Whilst the air con worked it was so squeaky we had to turn it off.Bathroom – despite the positives above there were a lot of issues. The shower in the cubicle just dribbled out. Not a normal shower let alone a power shower experience! So then you start looking for other issues. There was mold on the grout and the shower ring. The door seal did not work and despite the dribble of water, it still managed to soak the floor. The extractor fan worked well but was full of lint and hair and there were quite long whiskers sticking to the wall. The bath tap had bits missing but it worked. The face of the hand shower had fallen off so that could not be used and the brown stains to the bath looked, uninviting. The towel rail was broken so wet towels were the order of the day. These matters were all reported but no discount, refund or other compensation was offered! The swimming pool was nice but when some children arrived their parents allowed them to ignore all the signs and were jumping in all over the place. No attendants anywhere and they were just allowed to run riot. So an unpleasant spa experience.Would we go again? Oddly yes, so long as it was a different room. Next time I will check before unpacking...
