Underwhelming

Liked: Location was convenient to where we were seeing a concert
Disliked: Booked two queen beds, but was given a king bed and a sofa bed. The sofa bed had a large stain on the mattress. I went back to the front desk and alerted them that there had been a mistake and requested a room change and was informed that nothing was available. I was met with a shrug. I would have canceled the reservation and changed hotels but we were in a rush to see a concert. I requested extra sheets to cover the mattress stain. No one apologized or offered any resolution until I checked out the next day and they realized I had been given the wrong room at check in after all. I appreciated the AM front desk agent’s offer of a discount. I sympathize for anyone working in hospitality who has to deal with unhappy guests. I’m in the same business. However, there is a baseline response in telling someone that ‘we will do something to rectify this’ instead of shrugging. Especially where there is an issue with cleanliness and booking expectations. I’m hopeful there can be supportive training for the staff so they can feel confident in handling these type of issues.
