Convenient location, clean no frills...

Liked: It is conveniently located within walking distance to the convention center where my meeting was held. Plenty of food and drinking places within the vicinity.
Disliked: The room rates were crazy expensive. But i figured the high rates were due to the big medical convention that was happening in San Diego. There wasn't a kettle in the room which would have been appreciated. I could make some instant coffee or cup noodles.

Very comforatable, clean and quiet...

Liked: Friendly, helpful staff. Very clean room. Comfortable bed and pillows. Our room was very quiet. Excellent location in the Gas Lamp District. Nice rooftop bar.
Disliked: The gym was closed for renovations. The automatic sliding front door to the lobby made a horrendous noise every time it opened -- seemed to need repair.

A disappointing Marriott

Liked: Great location in the heart of the Gas Lamp district with lots of restaurants and sites in the vicinity. Staff was very good.
Disliked: The hotel was in the midst of renovation with furniture boxes and a temporary desk in the not very comfortable lobby. The exercise facility was closed for rernovation. My room was small with a small window looking out on the back of the building (no view). All of this might not have been a big an issue if Marriott were not charging a premium cost for the location (50% more than other hotels in the area - and somewhat more than other Marriottss on the same street). A major disappoinment.
