Disappointing
Disliked: I have sent several emails to Booking.com about this without resolution. When I arrived to the hotel, the front desk person at the Courtyard couldn’t find my reservation and asked me to call booking.com’s customer service to check on it. This call incurred a $50 international call fee from my phone carrier. After putting the front desk person on the phone with the booking.com representative on speaker, it was discovered that my booking was under a misspelled name. I am asking for reimbursement for that international call fee of $50, I have reached out to the booking.com customer service email providing all requested information for the stay, and the last email received asked that I call again. I have made reservations through booking.com before and I’ve never had any issues. This is extremely disappointing and frustrating because I was not expecting to be charged an international call fee for contacting your customer service line, it should be free, specially when the error was made on your end.

Liked: We were woken up in our sleep for a building fire alarm . Kept me anxious all night didn’t sleep at all !
Disliked: Nothing and the fact that there is a charge with a booking is crazy !

This stay was ok, however...
Liked: The beds were very comfortable and the staff was pleasant.
Disliked: There was construction going on in the hotel, which we were not made aware of before our stay. The drills and construction noise stared at 7:00 and didn’t stop until evening. Also, there were a lot of noisy guest and it sounded like a bowling alley above our room. This was not the fault of the hotel and the staff did try to quiet the guests, but unfortunately it made for an uncomfortable stay.

The room was clean however...
Liked: Close to UC Davis
Disliked: Property was being renovated, and garage trucks picking garbage at 5:00 am were loud enough to disrupt my sleep. Also the room a/c was loud and would come on and off throughout the night which was frustrating.

Don’t. Just don’t.
Liked: Fumes from construction. Renovated room didn’t even have the fridge plugged in, no working USB charger ports. Tell me why you step in to turn on the shower and the head is in the opposite wall by the opening of the shower door? There are so many things wrong with the renovated room it was as if things weren’t properly drawn in the basic design and then a bad contractor was told to save as much money as possible. What was happening in that place looked nothing like pictures shown on booking.com and there was no mention of construction prior to arrival. I wish I had left and stayed elsewhere.

far, far too expensive for...
Liked: registration staff competent and friendly.. quiet room
Disliked: the price of the room was far too high with regard to the level of amenities. The price of the room was far too high in terms of the quality of the room. I made a reservation in order to be in compliance with U C Davis' rules for discharge after my heart procedure. I was just very disappointed in the fact that there was no restaurant on the premises, forcing me and my 91 year old partner to drive after dark to get food. I have never paid over $400 dollars for a motel room and I found that the disparity between the rate and the experience shocking. When I return in a few weeks to the hospital, I will certainly make other arrangements with regard to the stay.
