The hotel was very accommodating

Liked: The hotel was very accommodating. As our flight to Hamburg was early we request a room be available with little expectation, but there was one ready! The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful.The free airport transport was fast and efficient as well. Despite proximity to the airport the room was quiet with no external noise. The room and beds were comfortable. The U bahn nearby meant accessing the city centre was easy with a regular service.
Disliked: No negative comment

Liked: This hotel was very hospitable and comfortable; it is exactly the typ of hotel I like to stay in.
Disliked: Having been in the hotel twice, it seems that all the shower heads really need replacing

Liked: Close to the airport and the service staff were most helpful in picking us up late at night in the hotel shuttle ….. that was so appreciated !!
Disliked: The position of the hotel is handy to the airport but there is absolutely no local coffee shops or others of any kind in the area within walking distance…. The layout of the bathroom in our room was cramped and awkward. The morning breakfast staff also weren’t what I would describe as very helpful, warm and friendly maybe because we weren’t local and my Australian accent made me hard to understand

Disliked: The swimming pool was cold water which meant my 4 year old wouldn’t use it. Unfortunately this was the main reason I chose the hotel.

Good Airport hotel option

Liked: Proximity to Airport, yet quiet. Easy to get to. Could even walk to Terminal
Disliked: Pillows were uncomfortable. Beer on tap was not cold,which was disappointing on a hot August evening

Liked: Our stay at Courtyard by Marriott Hamburg Airport was overall pleasant — clean room, great location near the metro — but one evening came with a scene straight out of a sitcom.
Disliked: We had just bought some water from reception (yes, water, not cocktails, not shots — actual bottled water), and I stepped outside with a friend for a quick smoke. My partner, who doesn’t smoke, stayed inside, sitting on a lobby couch with his eyes closed, waiting for us before heading upstairs to sleep.The duty manager decided this was apparently a scandalous act and told him “it’s not normal” to lie down in the lobby. My partner explained he wasn’t sleeping, just resting quietly — no noise, no disturbance, no alcohol involved — yet a few minutes later, the same manager actually came outside to find me and my friend, asking if we knew “that man” and if we were also guests of the hotel. The whole thing felt more like a crime investigation than a hospitality moment.I get that hotels have standards, but this was a bit much. No one was inconvenienced, nothing inappropriate happened, and frankly, it’s not the kind of overreaction you expect from a Marriott brand.Everything else during our stay was lovely, so I might come back — but next time, I guess we’ll make sure to keep both eyes wide open in the lobby, just in case
