The Spotlight on Court Colman Manor

Historic Charm Meets Modern Comfort Near the Music

A stay at Court Colman Manor blends classic Georgian elegance with relaxed, friendly vibes—perfect for concert-goers looking for a quiet retreat after the show. Nestled in 6 acres of peaceful gardens just outside Bridgend, it's ideally located between Cardiff and Swansea, making it a convenient base for catching gigs across South Wales. With easy access to the M4 and free parking, getting to your venue is a breeze.

Why Concert-goers love it

This manor may be set in the countryside, but its location is spot-on for live music fans. You're within easy driving distance of concert venues in Cardiff and Swansea, and just 2 miles from the M4 for late-night returns. The peaceful setting means you can count on a good night's sleep post-show, and with free Wi-Fi throughout, you can stream the night's setlist before bed. Check-in starts from 16:00, and the 11:00 check-out gives you time to recover without rushing.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a unique base with character
  • Solo travelers after a calm, safe stay post-concert
  • Couples making a romantic weekend of it
  • Fans wanting a quieter post-concert recovery space that’s not in the city centre
  • Budget-conscious music fans who want value without compromise

Food and Drink Options

The on-site Bokhara Brasserie is a major highlight—an award-winning Indian restaurant that’s been crowned Best Curry Restaurant in Wales multiple times. It’s ideal for a flavour-packed dinner before or after a show. While there's no 24/7 room service, traditional British dishes are also available, and there are local pubs and eateries a short drive away. Breakfast is available the next morning, perfect for those slow concert comedowns.

Nightlife Options

Court Colman Manor is more about chill than thrill, but its location means you're never far from great nightlife in Cardiff or Swansea. Head out for a night of live music, then return to the serenity of the manor. While there’s no on-site live music or bar scene, the peaceful atmosphere is a welcome escape after a loud gig.

What People Say

Guests love the quiet location, friendly staff, and the characterful themed rooms. The Indian restaurant earns consistent praise for both quality and atmosphere. Many reviewers mention the hotel as a hidden gem and appreciate the easy access to surrounding areas.

Areas for Improvement

The rural setting means you’ll likely need a car or taxi to get to and from venues—public transport options are limited late at night. Also, some rooms may feel a little dated in decor, depending on personal taste.

The Bottom Line

Court Colman Manor offers concert-goers a peaceful, well-connected retreat with award-winning food and charming character—perfect for winding down after the music fades.

Disappointing

Liked: The reception staff and waitresses were excellent. The breakfast was tasty and value for money. There was ample parking on site. The restaurant on site was fabulous . The exterior of the property is beautiful.
Disliked: While acknowledging the charm of the building's common areas and exterior, I must express my concern regarding the condition of the room we reserved. Cleanliness is of utmost importance, and unfortunately, the room was found to be quite dusty and dirty, with dust present on various surfaces, including the television remote control and floorboards. Furthermore, there was mold in the shower, the bathroom lighting was inadequate, and the beds were both uncomfortable and noisy. Additionally, there was no towel rack for a hand towel, no toilet roll holder for the toilet roll in use, and the bathroom door could only be closed from the inside. It also appeared that the housekeeping staff had not put effort into properly preparing the beds after our first night. Given these issues, it is evident that a deep cleaning of the room is necessary. Furthermore, we were disturbed by our noisy neighbors in the middle of the night. Due to the thin walls, we could hear everything they said. A noise curfew is needed. We were particularly disappointed, as we had arranged a surprise trip for our mother from South Africa, and the room's condition was quite embarrassing.

Nice views, slightly dated decor....

Liked: Beautiful setting, lovely big jacuzzi bath.
Disliked: Was unable to make breakfast as they changed timings to make it earlier in order to accommodate a wedding and we didn’t wish to get up early on our only break away. Some finishing touches not quite right. Robe and no slippers, mismatching cups, no bubble bath etc.

Good

Liked: Loved the history of the manor and the grounds. Plenty of green areas to play for our 2 dogs. Great base to explore the area.
Disliked: I have found the bed to be on the smaller size. I would upgrade for a bigger one next time.

Passable

Liked: The location is fantastic the hotel is nice the lady that did breakfast I would say the more mature lady was absolutely lovely couldn't help you more if she tried young girl was actually quite miserable when the couple on the next table asked her which was the over easy egg she said she didn't know because she didn't take the order she was not very helpful to be honest and yeah if you're looking for lovely time her face and the expression on it was not what you want to meet first thing in the morning I cannot praise the more mature lady that took our breakfast order and helped out she was absolutely with us and the other people front house was lovely and polite to say location rests the star except for the young person in a breakfast room this morning couldn't fault just a shame the other bit better down
Disliked: When went down for breakfast at 9:15 no fruit left told they'd run out when we ordered a full Welsh breakfast as I call it there was no black pudding there were no mushrooms food came out warm Well lukewarm we were told as it's a bank holiday they'd run out or sorry obviously bank holiday most places are going to be extra busy don't you order more in and it's only mushrooms in that pudding so it wouldn't have run to waste and as for fruit there was no fruit there was a couple there of vegetarian she couldn't have any fruit because it wasn't all she managed to have was a yocket I have to say the quality of the breakfast was poor

Very good

Liked: The lobby and grounds were stunning, and in a very peaceful area. The staff were really friendly and the nepal restaurant was delicious. I had a few drinks at the bar and read and was quite comfortable.
Disliked: The rooms and halls could stand a fresh coat of paint and some renovation. While not dirty, it did feel old and the floors were quite squeaky.
