Countryside getaway

Liked: Beautiful property in the countryside. Lovely view to wake-up to. We enjoyed our full welsh breakfast and morning stroll around the countryside. Definitely would recommend as a getaway.Staff were helpful when you had questions. And the place was kept clean.

Quiet break

Liked: Stunning views from the hotel and a sense of granduer from the front of the hotel. Reception staff friendly welcoming and helpful. As was the young girl in the breakfast room the first morning. Lovely lady in breakfast room second morning of a more mature age , definitely a staff member to set an example to some of the younger staff. We stayed in room 113 comfortable bed and clean shower.
Disliked: Hotel itself was tired and in need of some TLC, carpets needed a good clean and proper hoover in all areas. Exstenstion lead draped across the floor of the first landing for most of the stay. Some of the younger members of staff acted like they were in a playground in the bar area. Constantly on their phones laughing and giggling with no obvious care for customers trying to have a quiet drink . Maybe we are old fashioned, but it seemed as if there was a competition to see who could wear the shortest skirt. Unfortunately there seems to be a lack of guidance from the obvious more experienced members of staff.

Liked: The breakfast was good if a little limited on choice. Yhe level.of service varied throughout our meal a bit all or nothing.We loved the grandness of the hotel and the rural setting.
Disliked: The room was spacious and well styled but the decor was tired. The shower was not great. We did not use the jacuzzi bath, that is not an important feature for us.The first floor landing had an artificial fragrancer the smell was unpleasant and overpowering (unnecessary?)

Characterful hotel with lovely staff

Liked: Great size and set up of room. Suited our needs perfectly. Staff, particularly Hannah and a lady who brought squash to our room were fabulous. So friendly and couldn’t do enough. The granola was absolutely delicious
Disliked: We looked forward to a family hour or so in the room watching tv before bed but couldn’t get it to work and had to get staff to make it work for us. We then had the same issue in the morning and had to give up. If there is a knack it would be useful to have information in the room. The bath is lively and deep but very high to try to step in to shower. Maybe a small stool would help. We were told the breakfast would be buffet due to a wedding which was fine but when we sat down there was a menu stating buffet and poached eggs etc. we therefore made choices based on this. When we ordered however we were told buffet only and eggs were made for us but I did feel we were being a bit awkward. As a suggestion maybe don’t put menus on the table if food can’t be offered that day as it confused us. Also the utensils were all on top of the buffet. That was fine but I had no idea which to use so just used any for bacon. This would then of course be an issue if a vegetarian came as they wouldn’t know which I had used. Overall we had a lovely stay I am writing only to try to give feedback that may help improve a lovely place with wonderful staff
