Country Inn & Suites by Radisson Grandville-Grand Rapids West MI

Disliked: Dirty; outdated; unsettling and overall disgusting hotel. Rooms very dirty; air conditioning did not work; sewage leak in the lobby. The only bright spot was there was a Sleep Number bed - but it was broken!

I enjoyed my stay, though the breakfast could have used a few more options. The choices were almost entirely bread-based, and I was looking for more options. They had apples, but the two I ate weren't very good. Could have used some eggs, or sausage, or ham.

Liked: Close to Pinnacle Center.
Disliked: Breakfast had limited choices.

Disliked: The 1st night I brought my family back from dinner and was going to enjoy a night swim at the hotel before bed. We got out our car and heard a guy screaming and yelling at who later I would learn was his girlfriend up in the room with their 3month old baby. And i qoute the man said ( I dont give a fuck!! I'll come up there and put 2 bullets in your head!!) End qoute. I then told my family to just go up to our room and we canceled our night swim. The very next morning I came down the stairway out to my car. When I noticed the gentleman that was screaming and yelling the night before was drunk passed out in his car with the drivers door open. I had assume he slept there all night. I get to my car and get my cigarettes out and proceed over to the little gazebo the hotel had designated for a smoking area. So now im sitting there enjoying a quiet early morning coffee and a cigarette before waking the family and going down for the free continental breakfast. When all of a sudden another couple comes out the hotel arguing and gets in to the car about 4 spaces down from where I was. I thought it is around 7:30am, why in the heck are people so mad around here? The car then backs up and stops. The gentleman in the passenger seat hops out. He then starts screaming and yelling and walks in front of the car. The lady in the car kinda guns it a little bit and then hits her brake. I thought to myself "look she tried to act like she was gonna hit him"! But then she git the gas again and hit the gentleman with her car. Knocking him back on the the parking lot and his feet went under the bumper before she came to a stop. She backed up a little, he then got up. Still screaming and yelling. He walked back toward the hotel. I am now trying very hard to finish my morning coffee and cigarette without getting caught up in this mess. They are in the path of the doorway I need to re-enter the hotel.

Liked: The location, helpful staff, clean pool.
Disliked: Had to switch rooms several times due to lack of smoke alarm, odor and room damage. The staff were helpful in making the switch to a different room.

It was a good value...

Liked: The breakfast was good and varied slightly on a daily basis.
Disliked: We had issues with the soap in the bathroom. First, there wasn't any and, then, it was replaced with hand lotion. We were then given bar soap which was fine as the soap was on order.

Comfortable, quiet, convenient

Liked: The first thing I noticed was how clean the building smelled! Not overly chemically, just fresh. It was so quiet, we stayed on July 4th night and I didn’t hear any other guests at all. The bed was SO comfortable and the pillows were pretty good. The young woman at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. Can’t comment on breakfast as we ate elsewhere but it did smell hot and fresh. Close proximity to the highway. The giant castle next door made for interesting conversation. We’ll definitely stay again!
Disliked: The floor of the shower had some grime on it, whatever material it was made of doesn’t lend itself to cleaning well so it was pretty stained but it clearly wasn’t for a lack of trying on the cleaning staff’s part. There was a little gunky build up on the sliding door with a couple hairs and the shower handle was opposite the opening of the door, so you had to get a little wet to turn on the shower. TV remote buttons were a bit hard to use. Very minor inconveniences.
