Liked: I recently stayed at this hotel and overall had a pleasant experience. The breakfast was good—fresh and tasty—but could benefit from a bit more variety. I didn’t make it to the spa, but the pool and hot tub were excellent and immaculately maintained. The towels were fresh and clean, and the showers were spotless and comfortable. I’d recommend this hotel for its cleanliness and amenities, though a few tweaks to the breakfast would make it even better

Disliked: Reception is rarely maned and therefore suggest they get a bell so people aren’t waiting for long periods of time at the reception desk, also needs updating as communal areas are now outdated.

Disliked: Note that they charge £15 a head, including older kids, for access to the pool. I'd never been charged that in over 8 years of stays there, and their response to my surprise was that they would berate their staff... As a single parent, finding they charge £30 for a four person family when you're made to pay full price for an adult and child is just galling. The rooms are ok, nothing fancy, but had always stayed as location convenient for seeing a friend, but will stay in town at one of the pub rooms or a B&B, or even the Mere again once their refurbishment finishes. But the breakfasts here are not worth the price at all - pop into any of the cafes, or even the Lambing Shed, for better quality food and coffee that won't clean you out. This place is not really worth bothering with any more. My bedroom was clean but the bathroom shower wasn't cleaned well and the bathroom floor was a mess - we walked on towels. It's gone downhill massively.
