Pleasant

Liked: Beautiful, tranquil location. Good breakfast. Clean and modern.
Disliked: No access to the swimming pool and sauna. An additional payment of £10 each to access the facilities.I have stayed in De Vere Village Hotels before and used the facilities for free. I was disappointed to learn that there was now a charge. If I had known this I wouldn't have booked this hotel.I took my elderly Mum away for the weekend and was looking forward to using the facilities. Also, the mattress was very hard and I didn't sleep very well. And the room overlooked the car park, which spoilt our experience.

I paid a premium price...

Liked: Food & service
Disliked: The bathroom needs updating, the taps in both shower and sink were discoloured. The shampoo/shower-gel dispensers didn't dispense correctly. There was no heat control in the room, which at times was cold. The door occasionally didn't shut itself.ie if you walked away without checking it, the room remained unlocked. In the men's changing room beside the pool, the waste bin wasn't adjacent to the water dispenser, so there were lots of discarded conical paper cups on top of the machine and on the floor. Discarded towels/robes everywhere. At the pool side, the Ice-dispenser didn't work. Many people attending the large Yoga meeting were walking through the lounge/bar area in robes, flip flops or scantily dressed. Very few people dressed for dinner.

Banging doors and uncomfortable beds

Liked: The location suited us for our stay
Disliked: Typical De Vere chain - we stopped staying at De Vere hotels because of the noise issues and De Vere having no regard for the peace and comfort of their guests at other hotels but thought’ surely they’ve got it right at the Cotswold Park?’ How wrong we were - every en-suite door throughout the many rooms at this holiday park hotel bang and bang because De Vere can’t be bothered to install soft closure fittings. We asked for a quiet room and were also placed next to a corridor door that banged and banged as guests came up from the nearest car park- a receptionist told me when I eventually got to speak to one of them - that our room was considered one of the quieter rooms! - wonder if he’d ever slept in it? We had no sleep for two nights - as soon as one door banged - dropping off was not an option as several others on all floors carried on at night for at least 2 hours and definitely past midnight. We found the Boathouse restaurant dirty - food on the floor and around the table base - the waitress forgot our request for a dessert menu and when she seemed to come out, stare at us and gormlessly pickup a menu and approached a half an hour later- we told her we’d ordered through one of her colleagues as we realised she’d disappeared. Breakfast was a holiday park affair - I experienced frozen strawberries in the berry mix - not sure if the mushrooms were tinned or not - all in all a dire overpriced experience- not to mention attempting to reach reception from our room ( they didn’t answer the internal phone so I used my mobile) and then the receptionist launched straight into ‘ Could I come down and talk to to Ecolab guy about the chemicals in the swimming pool?’ So I said well I could do - I’ve got a hot tub at home but I’m a hotel guest in room 274 and we want a room change because of the ridiculous banging doors!! He couldn’t help us but at least we gave them the opportunity to try to put things right as if Hidee Hi😂😂😂😂
