The Spotlight on Corstorphine Lodge Hotel

Victorian Charm with Easy City Access

A classic and cozy retreat in the heart of Edinburgh’s western suburbs, the Corstorphine Lodge Hotel blends historic elegance with modern convenience. Housed in a striking 1880s stone-built villa, this hotel sits along the A8, a direct route between Edinburgh Airport and the city center. With its lovely Victorian walled gardens and tranquil vibes, it's a great base for exploring the city — especially if you're here for a concert.

Why Concert-goers love it

Located just a 15-minute bus ride from central Edinburgh, this hotel places you within easy reach of top music venues while offering a peaceful escape after the show. A bus stop right outside the hotel makes late-night returns simple, and the quiet residential setting ensures a restful night. While check-in starts at 15:00 and checkout is at 11:00, the staff is known for being friendly and accommodating when possible.

Who this Hotel is great for

- Groups of friends who want to stay somewhere affordable but with character
- Solo travelers catching a dream gig and needing reliable transport
- Couples looking to mix music and a romantic weekend
- Fans craving quiet after the noise and energy of the crowd
- Budget-conscious music lovers who still want a stylish stay

Food and Drink Options

While Corstorphine Lodge doesn’t have an on-site restaurant, you’ll find plenty of walkable eateries and pubs nearby along St John’s Road. Each room includes tea, coffee, and biscuits — perfect for a late-night snack. Breakfast is available in the morning, ideal for those recovering from a late gig.

Nightlife Options

Though there’s no bar on-site, you’re just a stroll away from classic Edinburgh pubs offering local ales and a friendly atmosphere. Want something livelier? Hop on a bus back into the city for late-night bars and clubs near Princes Street or Cowgate.

What People Say

Guests love the historic character, friendly staff, and easy transport links. Reviewers often highlight the peaceful setting, clean rooms, and the charming garden views. Many say it’s a hidden gem for those not needing to be right downtown.

Areas for Improvement

Some rooms are a bit dated in decor, and the lack of an elevator means stairs may be a challenge for some. If you’re planning a late night out, note that there’s no 24-hour front desk — but the team is helpful and flexible when you let them know in advance.

The Bottom Line

A relaxing and affordable stay with vintage charm, just a quick ride from Edinburgh’s best live music venues.

Faites attention aux punaises de...

Liked: Absolument rien (absolutely nothing)
Disliked: Hotel to Avoid: Bedbugs found upon arrival (see photo)We had booked this hotel for 3 people, for 2 nights. When we arrived, we were welcomed by the hotel manager, who did not accompany us to our room.As we walked past the breakfast/dining rooms, we noticed a suspicious smell. The room itself was located in the attic, dirty (there was even dried nasal mucus stuck next to my bed), and poorly maintained.Given the state of the room, I inspected the bed and mattresses, and what I found was absolutely horrifying:stains of menstrual blood, urine, and other traces on the mattresses (unfortunately, I don’t have photos of these),and worst of all — bedbugs (see photo). We immediately contacted the manager, who came to check with us, acknowledged the situation, and asked us to send the video to the hotel director. He assured us that we would be fully refunded. We left the hotel straight away and found alternative accommodation at our own expense. The following day, the hotel director called us, claiming that the insects were “bugs but not bedbugs.” However, after checking Google reviews, several guests have reported being bitten, which makes the presence of bedbugs under two layers of sheets on the mattress highly suspicious. The director also said that an expert report would be needed to confirm it but that the hotel would not carry out any further investigation. The hotel also refused to refund the first night, arguing it was a “loss of income” since the room could not be rented to other guests (who apparently would have to accept sleeping with bedbugs). They only offered a refund for one night, but we obviously did not want to stay in a hotel with bedbugs.I fear that rooms will continue to be offered at outrageous prices, in completely unsanitary conditions, to unsuspecting guests.I have only a video of the bed bugs but i coulnd’t upload it (screen photos show the fabulous Travel of the bed bugs)

It was a terrible and...

Liked: The only thing I liked was the room was spacious.
Disliked: Many things were horrible with my stay.Terrible and Unsafe ExperienceMy recent stay at Corstorphine Lodge Hotel was one of the most frightening experiences I have ever had. The hotel staff was a serious safety concern. An employee entered my locked room with a key despite a "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door, claiming a mix-up that made no sense. This left my friend and me, two young women, feeling incredibly vulnerable and scared. When we tried to report the incident to another staff member, he was rude, laughed at our concerns, and belittled us. The hotel itself was also in poor condition, with a broken window, a dirty bathtub, and noise all night. We felt so unsafe that we were forced to cut our vacation short and leave the following morning. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. The lack of professionalism and utter disregard for guest safety is unacceptable.
