The Spotlight on Corriegarth Hotel

Historic Highland Charm Just Steps from Inverness Nightlife

Corriegarth Hotel is a charming, historic property in the heart of Inverness, just a 10-minute walk from both the River Ness and Inverness Castle. Housed in a building dating back to the 1840s, this cozy hotel blends classic Scottish character with modern comforts. With only 9 rooms, it offers a personal, relaxed vibe that’s perfect for winding down after a night of live music.
Expect tartan-accented decor, locally inspired food, and a welcoming pub atmosphere that feels authentically Highland.

Why Concert-goers love it

Corriegarth Hotel is ideally located for music fans—close enough to Inverness’s main venues to walk, but tucked just far enough from the hustle to enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep. The on-site bar is a lively spot to grab a drink before or after a show, and with friendly staff and a flexible check-in from 15:00, you’ll feel well looked after. While check-out is on the earlier side at 10:30, it’s easy to store luggage if you’re not quite ready to leave town.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a fun base with a pub downstairs
  • Solo travelers catching a big-name act in town
  • Couples seeking a romantic yet music-fueled weekend getaway
  • Fans wanting a quieter stay without sacrificing location
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who want comfort and charm

Food and Drink Options

The hotel’s restaurant is known for hearty Scottish fare with a focus on fresh local seafood—don’t miss the West Coast mussels. While there’s no 24/7 room service, the downstairs bar serves food late enough for a post-show bite. Breakfast is available in the morning—ideal if you've had a late night. Plus, plenty of eateries are within walking distance.

Nightlife Options

The on-site bar is a social hub, pouring locally brewed ales in a relaxed setting. It’s a great spot to meet fellow gig-goers or just enjoy a dram. For more action, Inverness’s pubs, lounges, and live music venues are all just a short stroll away.

What People Say

Guests consistently praise the friendly staff, cozy rooms, and the hotel’s central yet quiet location. The pub atmosphere is a hit, especially among travelers looking to connect with locals. The Scottish breakfasts also get a big thumbs-up from reviewers.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests mention that the rooms are on the smaller side, and the early check-out at 10:30 can feel a bit rushed after a late night. Also, this is an older building, so while full of character, it's not the place for those expecting sleek, ultra-modern interiors.

The Bottom Line

A character-filled base in central Inverness, Corriegarth Hotel is a top pick for concert-goers who want local flavor, comfy rooms, and a pub right downstairs.

Would stay again

Liked: How the staff had a reservation for us as they were busy for food that evening just in case.
Disliked: A party going on in function room but it didn’t go on late.

Clean friendly place to stay...

Liked: The rooms were a good size, bed comfortable and upstairs away from the main bar. It was warmer weather during our stay and the staff tracked down a pedestal fan for us to use to move the air around. We had a few different meals in the bar and the restaurant all of which were enjoyable and well presented. We didn't have breakfast included in the package as we were uncertain of our movements each day but were able to have breakfast a couple of times and pay the additional; cost which was reasonable value for money. The location was perfect for us to traverse north to John O groats and back again in the one day..big drive day but the long daylight hours helps and was still able to get a meal and drinks at the late arrival back. Bar and restauarant areas were both comfortable, clean and bar staff friendly.
Disliked: As we found throughout a lot of the UK there is no air conditioning in rooms and being 26 C in Scotland is warmer than usual. However as said previously staff did track down a fan to help us out.

This is a pub with...

Disliked: The room was really small but pricey (£340 for two nights) . It faces onto a busy road and does not have aircon so the choice was to swelter with the window closed or hear traffic and other noise with the window open. There were patches of mould around the window which affected my partner. We left after the first night and have been promised a refund (currently in complaint process)
