Coombe Abbey Hotel Guest Reviews

Step back in time at Coombe Abbey Hotel, a stunning 4-star retreat nestled in 500 acres of landscaped parkland. This former 12th-century Cistercian abbey blends historic grandeur with modern comfort, offering a unique stay just a 15-minute drive from Coventry. With antique-filled rooms, scenic views, and centuries-old architecture, it's a hotel experience as unforgettable as the concert you're attending.
The hotel’s peaceful countryside setting makes it an ideal spot to unwind after a high-energy night out. Despite its tranquil atmosphere, it's still conveniently close to Coventry and its major music venues. The drive back is short and scenic, and for groups with a designated driver or a taxi, it’s a smooth ride home. With free Wi-Fi throughout and late-evening events like medieval banquets, there’s still plenty of entertainment if you're not ready to call it a night.
Dine like nobility in the fine à la carte restaurant or grab a post-show bite in the Garden Bar, which serves delightful afternoon tea and light snacks. While there’s no 24/7 room service, the hotel’s medieval banquets and themed dining experiences offer a memorable twist on the usual hotel fare. Breakfast is available — handy if you’ve had a late night and need a slow start the next day.
While there’s no nightclub on-site, Coombe Abbey hosts weekend medieval banquets complete with entertainment, making it a fun alternative to traditional nightlife. Coventry’s pubs and bars are just a short drive away, and the serene bar at the hotel is great for winding down with a glass of wine or local ale.
The check-out time of 10:30 AM might feel a bit early after a late-night gig, so plan to snooze that alarm or ask for a late check-out if available. Also, parking comes at a small extra charge, so factor that into your budget.
If you're looking to pair your concert with a memorable, storybook stay, Coombe Abbey Hotel offers historic charm and modern comfort just minutes from Coventry’s music scene.

Memorable. Amazing venue and beautiful...
Liked: The history of the building and the setting was stunning, without question.
Disliked: I found it difficult to find reception initially, so I checked in online and then had no idea where to go to find my room until I found a lovely waiter who directed me.I appreciate the age of the building and the beautiful history but the rooms are very dated and could do with a bit of paint and a clean to remove mould in the bathroom. This would not detract from the history but simply enhance the cleanliness. Proper drapes for the window in the ground floor bathroom would be nice for privacy, better lighting in the room would be nice and whilst it is not possible to have air conditioning, maybe there could be provision for fans in the rooms to circulate air, especially in the warmer weather.

Fabulous Hotel set in beautiful...
Liked: What a fantastic hotel! Clean, comfortable and the grounds are stunning. The food is of an excellent quality and cooked well. We reserved a table in the restaurant for an evening meal and I didn't fancy anything on the main restaurant menu and asked if it was possible to select from the garden bar menu and this was not a problem and my meal was gorgeous. The bedroom was spacious, with a four poster bed, there was everything you could wish for, an iron and ironing board, fridge, hairdryer, tea and coffee making facilities, toiletries, 2 large chairs and foot stools with a coffee table and a floor standing fan. The bathroom was spacious, the shower was over the bath (a grab rail in the bath might be an idea due to the bath side being high). The room was located on the 2nd floor and the hotel has a lift.
Disliked: The bedroom was dark even with the lights on. I think parking should be free, it was £10 for 24 hours.

The breakfast very good and plenty of choice . All the Staff were friendly , cheerful and helpful .We look forward to returning and following our lovely time there , with friends
Disliked: Really just the temperature in the Room , I can understand that Air Con not allowed in such a dated . lovely Building .However surely a few of the portable Air Con units would be a good idea ,The fan supplied needs checking as it was not giving off any cool air
