Very disappointing

Liked: Really disappointed with the rooms especially for the price .Our bathroom had mould and smelt quite strongly of damp .And the fact that you do not include breakfast within the price is disappointing. Too be honest it was not worth £12.50. We had better in the premier inn in Dumfries
Disliked: You really need to start to give the hotel an overhaul . It was such a let down when you saw the dirty doors in your room and marks everywhere

An aging hotel with awkward...

Liked: The location and the view of the castle.
Disliked: The dates and dusty environment. The slopes in the aging property. The food selection and the staff also left a lot to be desired.

Comfortable stay, but definitely not...

Liked: No doubt the location is the best thing the hotel has to offer.
Disliked: Breakfast was nice overall but we were down for breakfast towards the end of service and the pots of tea were cold and beans had gone stale, with the sauce drying up. There was no shower curtain which resulted in a wet bathroom floor.

Lovely room

Liked: The room was lovely. Comfortable and overlooking the river. It had a walk in shower.
Disliked: Everything was good.

Dark room

Liked: The location
Disliked: The room. It was dark and unwelcoming. The one window was on to a wall about 4 or 5 feet away. It blocked any view and most of the light.

Liked: Great location. Upgraded historic building. Very good breakfast buffet.
Disliked: Not as functional as more modern hotels. The weather had been very warm so I found the room stuffy.

Pleasant

Liked: Hotel was great.
Disliked: The booking.com website interface with the hotel was hacked just before our stay and we were defrauded of £170 and the fraudsters found out all the details and passwords for our bank account. Booking.com of course said it was nothing to do with them even though it was their system that was hacked.. Lesson:- don't touch booking.com with a barge poll..
