Superb

Fine for 1 night passing...

Liked: The price was reasonable value and it had a pool.
Disliked: The property is looking very tired. Although nothing was “broken” or falling apart, it is patched up in many places. Everything needs painting and could sure use a few upgrades.

So Much for Nostalgia

Liked: To begin I will say it used to be a wonderful motel with comfortable rooms and my brother and I loved the pool when we came with family to Gananoque in the 1970s and early 80s.
Disliked: Unfortunately, the Colonial Resort is far from what its name implies. Today, the property feels tired, outdated, and neglected, with most features showing obvious wear and tear.From the start, the room was a hassle. The door handle was loose and tricky to open, you had to pull and jiggle it just right to get in. And yes, it still uses a physical key on a tag like it’s 1975.Inside the room were two double beds, one with an overly soft, sagging mattress, and the other only marginally better. Comfort was not a strong point.The bathroom was even worse. The sink and counter were oddly low (I’m 5'6" and had to bend significantly), and the shower taps were installed upside-down and backwards. Turning them on meant twisting inward; shutting them off required twisting outward. At one point, I couldn't even get the water to stop running. When the neighboring unit used their water, our shower suddenly turned cold.The toilet didn’t flush properly, and we had to request a plunger to prevent it from overflowing. With no bathroom fan and a lingering damp smell, the whole space felt unpleasant and poorly ventilated.The air conditioner was another issue. It was mounted in a back window directly over one of the beds and was incredibly loud. There was no way to adjust the temperature or fan direction, it was either freezing cold or nothing at all. I ended up pulling the curtains over it just to reduce the noise and keep the icy air from blasting us in bed.Overall, the motel feels severely underwhelming. It gives the impression that someone took over the property and has made no meaningful updates, or even shown much interest in maintaining it. The check-in process was outdated too, involving a paper form and no convenient parking near the office.Although they apparently offer a continental breakfast, we chose to eat elsewhere.Despite its name, The Colonial Resort is most definitely not a resort.

Liked: The breakfastwas very good .The coffee and tea in the room was good .we had a great stay ,will definitely be back.
Disliked: The tv was a little small.

Grotty

Liked: The sheets were clean and beds comfortable. Shower was ok, the room and bathroom was as clean as it could be given the general state of the place. Breakfast was passable. There was an area to sit outside overlooking the grass. We enjoyed watching the raccoons.
Disliked: This place was probably beautiful in the 80's but it probably hasn't had any work done on it since then. Outdoor pool was barely usable, same goes for the sauna and possibly other amenities. Our room (37) needed work: the floor covering was lifting off so bare feet not advisable, bathroom door was stiff, the aircon was very old, everything needed cleaning and painting.
