Hotel Description
Coast Inn at Lake Hood, is a short walk away to watch float planes take on and off from one of the busiest seaplane bases in the world. In the winter the frozen lake serves as a frozen runway for planes with skis. Befitting to its location the hotel is decorated in Alaska Bush Pilot memorabilia and historic photography that the Alaska Aviation Museum next door shares with them. Each guest room is carefully cared for by our veteran housekeeping team, most of which have been with us 5 years and some up to 20 years. Each room has everything you need like Keurig Coffee machines with locally owned Caffé D'arte Alaska coffee, to in-room microwave and mini-refrigerator. If you have forgotten something, our front desk probably has it. We keep a fresh supply of basic toiletries available for you. Dine-in at locally owned and operated for 30 plus years, Pipers Restaurant and Lounge, or order room service. We have monthly specials that coincide with the season, Alaskan local favorites, and traditional native food. In the summer the deck is open and overlooks Lake Hood, where you can watch the planes land and take off right in front of you. The hotel has everything you need; from the fitness center, laundry machines, complimentary wi-fi, over 6,000 square feet of meeting space, computer stations for printing boarding passes, and the most needed on-demand courtesy airport shuttle available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, no reservation required. If you need to park and fly out, our partner Alaska Park is next door ready to serve you, and is who handles our courtesy shuttle. Capstone Clinic is located in the same building as Alaska Park to provide you with Covid testing needs.

Superb

Liked: Very clean, comfortable, great restaurant and they offered free airport transfer.
Disliked: It wasn't central to the downtown area. A taxi was required because it was unwalkable.

Liked: the beds were very comfortable. We paid for a larger room and the size was great. Nice seating area
Disliked: Outdated carpets. No elevator..we were traveling with an 80 year old family member

It was a good place...

Liked: The lake was fun to watch planes, nice biking area and walking
Disliked: front desk staff didn’t seem to be very helpful with directions and things to do locally

Disappointing and won’t be back

Liked: Convenient location to airport but actually Anchorage is small and staying in town would have been nearly as convenient with much more personality, options and walking distance to dinner, breakfast and short Uber back to airport
Disliked: No elevator meant lugging bags up stairs, place was tired and smells musty. Hard mattress and crappy coffee
