Disappointing.

Liked: Looks impressive from outside. Some staff were very nice and friendly. Nice touch in that we got to keep the same dining table throughout our stay. The children loved the pool.
Disliked: Very basic. Rooms dated. We came with all our family for our golden wedding anniversary and were disappointed. Thought it would be more luxurious for the price. We booked 4 rooms. Tiny bathrooms with the toilet practically touching the wall at one side and the bath at the other. Could barely fit on the seat! No nice toiletries, no bottled water, no USB plugs. The little things that make a hotel stay special were missing. Some staff were miserable looking, no smiles. We felt like we were an inconvenience, especially in the cafe bar. The food was ok but nothing special. The best thing was we got to keep the same dining table throughout our stay. We booked out a night early and no one asked if we had enjoyed our stay or why were we leaving early. We didn’t complain, we don’t like to make a fuss but can’t see us returning. Sorry.

What dedicated 24 hour helpline?

Liked: Paul Kershaw a duty manager who saved the day
Disliked: Car parking terrible given our room key got to our room sea view. awful bathroom there was a 6.5 mm gap between the door opening and the bath.Went back to reception said sorry but thats not for us my wife is waiting to go to have her hip replaced imminently and neither of us are very mobile. Sorry buts all we have was the reply tried numerous times to call Booking.com they boast a 24 hour helpline to no avail decided to leave asked what was the procedure they did not know. At this point I contacted another hotel and booked a room for one night not realising it was B.com I paid £45 for the night while we weighed up our options.Went to reception told them we were leaving asked to wait for the duty manager. PAUL KERSHAW was the chap who came to see us and he did find another room but we would have to wait 1 night which we did.The following morning the hotel staff moved all our possessions to our new room which was a triple with large bathroom but nosea view they refunded the view fee.I think that due to the circumstances we found ourselves in at the very least we should receive an apology off BOOKING.COM and a full refund of the £45 we paid to the Grand Hotel for the 1 night which Booking.com took from my account. Very justified rant over I do expect a reply from Booking.com soon.
