lovely

Liked: everyone was so helpful and kind: I had sustained an injury during my journey and the staff were kindness itself .
Disliked: the general ambiance, sympathetic decor: a lovely country house “feel”.

Enjoyable stay

Liked: Lovely.country house very conveniently situated just off A21. Staff very friendly and helpful, food was good, both evening meal and breakfast. Nice beer garden and cosy lounge bar. Bedroom was clean with toiletries and good quality bedding and towels.
Disliked: We had a compact double room and it is quite small, however they do warn you of this. I would say it is well worth paying extra for a superior room.

lovely stay, a lot is...

Liked: peaceful, good room with balcony, great showergood breakfast, very accommodating staffbeautiful setting and gardens
Disliked: flimsy en-suite toilet seatin room: no coffee machine, only instant.in room: tv couldn’t be watched from armchairs due to room configuration. move tv to wall on bracket so can be angled for viewing from armchairs and/or bed?Lounge/bar, very pleasant but perhaps add a sofa in place of a couple of the chairs for a bit of extra comfort and seating variety?

Nice country hotel

Liked: Efficient and well presented breakfast. Room was clean with good views outside. Bed was comfortable and the room was big enough for the two of us. Well positioned hotel for sightseeing around the area.
Disliked: There was occasional loud noise on the landing/stairs outside and above us from people and creaking stair treads. We did not think this was from other guests?

I would probably choose to...

Liked: Lovely room at the back of the property so very quiet. In fact the whole property was very quiet but it does look as if it could get very busy, especially with the bar outside. We had a very comfortable bed, although, as it was a 4 poster part of me was hoping for curtains; but I understand why they weren't present.Breakfast was exceptional - great coffee and the fresh fruit was really fresh, the cooked part was very tasty and the member of staff who served us and kept us supplied with toast and coffee was friendly. Loved it.
Disliked: Reception was a brief.Directions were a little vague as to the room's location (although the person was suffering from a cold and it was a sleepy Sunday afternoon). Nor were we informed about keys to the premises or other facilities e.g. where the breakfast room was, the time of breakfast or whether we could use the bar area. We had to ask about the breakfast times but the person was a little unsure.TV reception was poor - no BBC channels or radio. There didn't seem to be anyone around which we weren't too bothered about but as we didn't know the area it might have been nice to see someone to answer questions. I think we might have missed a sign saying 'ring-the-bell if ....' . If we had been staying longer, we would have been more bothered about this. There was no-one on Reception (Monday morning, start of the week, busy ..?) to check we had been happy with our stay and that there had been no problems. Finally a sweet wrapper from a previous guest was under the bed. We did receive an apology for this though.
