Expensive and our room wasn’t...
Liked: Location & room was nice.
Disliked: The shower was appalling. Our room wasn’t serviced - we informed reception about this at around 4pm and requested more toilet paper & water. For nearly £350 per night not good.

Really lovely comfortable stay, very...
Liked: Location was very good in front of a lovely garden square and only 10 minutes walk into town. The staff were all really friendly and helpful. Very supportive with parking my larger vehicle. The lady on reception had saved me a large space and let me park there for a few hours the following day after we had checked out so we could have a look around the rest of the Jazz Festival. Nice little bar area downstairs that was very much appreciated when we arrived back later that evening. Very comfortable bed and large bedroom with lovely view of the gardens.
Disliked: The only disappointment despite a very nice stay was the breakfast. It was a very limited offering and the poached eggs on toast I ordered were ruined and not soft. The small bowl of fresh fruit looked past its best. I am not a big coffee drinker but love a cappuccino when away with breakfast. Unfortunately there was only filter coffee available.

Hotel getting old & in...
Disliked: Charged £5 for parking despite website saying parking was free. Asked why - apparently because I booked with booking.com & they charge hotel 18% so hotel has to get something back!!!Wifi code incorrect in rooms - uses capital letters but doesn't work - asked reception - gave correct code in lowercase letters only first capital - disagreed it was wrong even though room info says all capitals. Why would anybody deny this ?

Comfortable, clean and not bad...
Liked: Staff: Friendly and helpful.Breakfast: Cooked breakfast was cooked to order, well presented and a with a reasonable selection of cereals, yoghurts, juices, pastries, etc.Restaurant/breakfast room/bar area: Pleasantly presented.Room: A reasonable size, with ensuite bathroom, clean and with a good temperature. Good sized wardrobe for hanging garments. Good shower and hot water. Tea, coffee and biscuits provided. As was an iron and ironing board.Location: Good for access (easy walking distance) to the town centre, Pittville Park and located in a pleasant square with its own garden park. Helpful signs warning about car thieves in the area.
Disliked: Staff: Not available at various times. Chasing someone down for some assistance or room service was not expected.Breakfast: Girl (who was very pleasant) serving was run off her feet and under a lot of pressure, hindering service and enjoyment of breakfast.Room: Nothing like any of the photographs shown and certainly without regency charm. No drawers to store small clothing items e.g. socks, smalls, etc. The tiny draws in a small dresser in the room are inadequate for that. Ensuite Bathroom: Again, nothing like the photos. Bathroom would be best described as clean and serviceable but a little cosmetically tired with a chipped bath. With a small pedestal wash basin the bathroom was frustratingly totally lacking in any place to put one, never mind two toiletry bags, cosmetics, make up, shaving items, etc. No signs of a rubber in-bathmat (the shower being over-bath - a potential accident in the making?) making stepping over a quite high-sided bath from/onto a tiled floor a bit tricky. Not ideal for many and a problem for less mobile or certain older visitors. The double bed was actually two single beds pushed together, but without a mattress converter/joining strip to prevent a gap forming between the two bed bases/mattresses.Additional/hidden Charges: If you are expecting a daily housekeeping service (replace coffee, tea cups, make beds, etc) be prepared to pay an extra £20 per visit.Location: Exterior just a little scruffy. The white wrought iron patio tables and chairs shown in publicity photos were nowhere to be seen having been replaced by rather battered and bent more modern looking items that were chained down. Perhaps the former had been 'lost'?Teddy bears in the room: Yes, the hotel is littered with them and perhaps that is part of the charm of the place. However, the room came with its own textile teddy bear. It is probably best not to dwell on or think who has handled them and what may have happened to them previously!

Superb
Liked: Good location, near to other places. Breakfast was nice.
Disliked: Would have liked more towels & tea & coffee without having to ask for the room to be serviced, but it was ok for 2 nights.

Exceptional
Liked: The staff are always excellent and do whatever they can to improve your stay. Breakfast was absolutely delicious again. The location is perfect right on the edge of the brewery quarter, but still on a quiet, leafy square.
Disliked: The only minor thing was that our room was very hot, even without any heating on. I think the central heating pipes run upstairs behind a panel, which generates a lot of heat. As it was ground floor with an old sash window, you don't really want to leave the window open.
