The Spotlight on Citystay Hotel

Budget-Friendly East London Stay Just Minutes from the Tube

Modern and practical, Citystay Hotel offers a no-frills yet comfortable base in East London, perfect for travelers looking to make the most of their time (and money) in the city. Located just a 2-minute walk from Bow Road Tube Station, it provides quick, direct access to central London hotspots and major music venues like the O2 Arena and ExCeL. With a mix of en-suite and shared bathroom rooms, plus a communal lounge and kitchen, it's a smart pick for concert-goers who want convenience without breaking the bank.

Why Concert-goers love it

Guests love the quick Tube access, making it easy to reach concerts at the O2 or events at ExCeL in under 20 minutes. The hotel’s quiet side-street location helps you unwind after a night of music, while the self-catering kitchen is a plus for late-night snacks or next-day recovery meals. With a 2pm check-in, you can arrive and settle in before heading out to your show.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for simple, budget-friendly rooms with shared spaces
  • Solo concert-goers needing easy late-night transport and a secure place to rest
  • Couples on a weekend music trip who want value without sacrificing location
  • Fans who prefer a quiet, residential feel after a loud night out
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who want to spend less on lodging and more on experiences

Food and Drink Options

While Citystay Hotel doesn’t have an on-site restaurant, its fully equipped kitchen lets you cook or reheat after a late concert. You'll also find plenty of cafes, pubs, and takeaway spots just a short walk away. Although there’s no breakfast service, the nearby options open early (or stay open late) for whatever time your day starts.

Nightlife Options

Head out to nearby bars and pubs along Mile End Road or hop on the Tube to explore Shoreditch’s trendy nightlife or the riverside bars around Canary Wharf. While the hotel itself is quiet and doesn’t offer live music or a bar, it’s an ideal place to return to after a night out.

What People Say

Many reviewers highlight the excellent value for money, especially its location near the Tube. Guests appreciate the cleanliness of the rooms, the useful communal kitchen, and the friendly staff. The free Wi-Fi and complimentary local calls are also well received.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests note that rooms with shared bathrooms can feel a bit basic, and the hotel doesn’t have air conditioning, which can be noticeable in warmer months. Others mention that the lack of on-site dining is a drawback, but the kitchen helps make up for it.

The Bottom Line

Citystay Hotel is a simple, affordable, and well-connected spot perfect for concert-goers who want quick access to London’s music venues without the high price tag.

Rough area. Son was nearly robbed on the way into the hotel. Room was up 5 flights of stairs and many walkways. Room was dirty. Bedside table had no drawers. Wardrobe was full of junk. Bathroom was not clean. Wouldn't have a shower in that. We're initially booked for a three night stay but left after one night.

Liked: Location and price.
Disliked: Everything else.

This is not a hotel....

Liked: I can't say that I liked anything, I stayed 15 minutes at the hotel and left. It does not match the listing and cannot be considered a hotel. To get to my room I had to climb about 4 floors, I even had to go out the back door and then go back in as if it were another building. We are traveling so we have a lot of luggage and my wife can't handle it, no one helped. The room was tiny, it had a bed and 40 cm on each side and in front to get through, how am I going to open the suitcase to get changed? The walls were all dirty and stained. I was wronged, I went through 6 countries all in the same price range and this was by far the worst. The worst of all is that I arrived very late at night at 1 am and had to look for another hotel and they were all full, I managed to sleep at 4 am. It was impossible to stay there. When I went to leave there was no one at the reception, I saw that no one would be back, I left the key on the counter and left. I explained this to the hotel the next day and I haven't had a response in 4 days. I was cheated by a false advertisement, I paid twice and still had to pay more at another hotel because I booked at the last minute. I don't recommend it, I didn't have any assistance from the hotel in this regard, hence the report.

I liked it and will...

Liked: Best location, cafe is right next to the hotel is amazing with delicious food. The bed was very comfy and clean as well as towels. National Express brings you to the hotel and you can get to Stansted airport just by crossing the road and catching the bus
Disliked: It’s quite dirty but accessible if you are not going to spend the whole day inside.

There's a reason why this...

Liked: The staff were friendly and the transport link is very convenient, with the nearest tube station being a small walk away. Although the shower is very basic and difficult to adjust it works pretty well.
Disliked: We were told the wrong room number at first. The beds were uncomfortable. There was a fan in the room, however it was not enough to cool the room down. The bathroom was dirty and both the bathroom door and the wall next to the room door were damaged. The window only had single glazing, which is quite shocking in this day and age, and as a result the sound of traffic seeped into the bedroom.
