CityFlatsHotel - Grand Rapids Ascend Hotel Collection

Much to my dismay the room was dusty and dirty; the floors weren't mopped or swept, with hair all over the bathroom floor; the towels were old and thin, and frayed; the tissue box was empty and not sure the sheets on the bed were even changed prior to our visit; even the two apples were old.

Liked: The location.
Disliked: The housekeeping.

Liked: The bed was like sleeping on a cloud.

Very comfortable room

Liked: Bed was very comfortable and the size of the room was great. Location was perfect!

Liked: Kind, caring employees, exceptional service.
Disliked: They said my room was on the second floor, but it felt like a basement. One tiny window high up looking on what seemed to be a window well. Next time I'll say I want a view. Also, people should be warned about the price of parking.

Liked: Location was great, room was clean, staff was very kind, free water boxes (as much as we wanted). Very quiet, very comfy.
Disliked: I still don't understand how the lights in the room worked. Some switches turned on some lights, some switches enabled or disabled other switches for other lights. Very confusing. We also spent like 20 min trying to figure out how to close the windows lol.

Liked: The window view was cute. Location was okay - walkable to everything. That’s pretty much it.
Disliked: Overall DOES NOT LOOK LIKE THE PHOTOS AT ALL. There is NO MINU FRIDGE or anything in the unit which is crazy! We had nowhere to store food. The WiFi was terrible & I work from home so struggled through hotspot the entire week. Lime green ugly walls unlike the photos. The floors look and feel dirty. Everything is worn down. Not soundproof at all but luckily the city was pretty dead. From the photos the hotel looks modern but in person it looks like an 80s run down place. The shower sprays everywhere and no control over the head (see pics) it sprays right out of the cracks of the door and causes a pool of water every time. Shower door doesn’t even fully shut, you can’t pull it in after you there’s no handles.. you can hear the sloshing of water through the pipes in the wall. The towels are all different & look worn out and some yellowed. The sheets feel like plastic and wrinkle like it too. The AC is ok but not the best. The floors feel like plastic cork. The kids on staff are really nice anyone who looked like management is a bit rude - they asked what room we’re staying and if we’re staying in the hotel multiple times as if after a week they don’t recognize their guests. Do not recommend it here for more than 1 night. You can see how it actually looks from photos I took.
