City Hotel

great location - hope it...

Liked: The location for getting a feel for Derry could not be better. The rooms were lovely but dated, the facilities good, breakfast buffet good value for money and the meals we had with wine and dine were very good value for money
Disliked: I knew the hotel was having work done but they said it was between 9 and 5, we were woken before 7 with banging and chiselling going on all around us, it appears that only floor 2 and 5 were actually operation floors.The waiting staff were overworked with the number in the restaurant and the general feel was that none of the staff were happy

Great hotel in general. Just...

Liked: Rooms were nice and clean. Staff were also friendly.
Disliked: The requirement to wear a swim cap to use the swimming pool, plus we didn’t know this prior to staying so we were met with a charge to buy a swim cap. In the end this put us off swimming.

Very good

Liked: Staff where very helpful and friendly, especially the guy who was doing the breakfast service. The girl at the check in desk was friendly and helpful also. The breakfast was outstanding with a lot of choice between hot food,cereal sweet treats and fruit along with different breads. Room was a great size and beds very comfortable.
Disliked: Although the ground floor was under renovation we where made aware but were not made aware that the jacuzzi was out of order for the foreseeable. Also the pool was freezing and my daughter was only able to spend 10 mins in there as it was that cold. The room was lovely but it was a bit dusty and some of the furniture could be doing with an upgrade esp the table and chairs in the room.

Disliked: The hotel was undergoing renovations which we heard after we had booked and our room was very more like a hospital room we ask for an upgrade which we got having to pay an extra 60£ the next day while we were at reception a couple was booking in an were given a complimentary room upgrade

Disliked: we knew the hotel was under going some work and said work was happening 9 to 5 but both morning we where woken up 8 with drilling and even earlier the next morning ,also was no tea bags in room and lighting in room was so bad need to change light bulbs . wee staying every year and where denfo disappointed this year

Liked: Although there was building works going on in the hotel it had everything well laid out and there was no confusion as to customer journey
Disliked: We had paid for parking but we’re unable to access a space

Liked: Breakfast was cool and the pool okay.
Disliked: Paying for car parking is ridiculous and the fee is just too expensive. The Jakusi wasn't working too.
