Whether you're here for a big show or a weekend away, this hotel’s central location and relaxed atmosphere help you feel right at home.

Why Concert-goers love it

Fans heading to a show at Gas South Arena will love being just a 10-minute walk from the venue—no need to worry about parking or ride-shares. The area is lively yet relatively quiet in the evenings, giving you a peaceful spot to unwind post-show. With ample free parking and a 3:00 PM check-in time, there’s plenty of flexibility for early arrivals. The hotel’s central location near Sugarloaf Mills and surrounding restaurants also adds to its concert-night appeal.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a convenient and affordable stay near the arena
  • Solo travelers catching a must-see tour stop
  • Couples making a music-filled weekend getaway
  • Fans wanting a quieter post-show escape just outside the main bustle
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who don’t want to skimp on comfort

Food and Drink Options

Start your day with the complimentary hot breakfast buffet, perfect for recharging after a late night out. While there’s no on-site restaurant or bar, the hotel is surrounded by walkable dining options and quick bites around Sugarloaf Mills. For late-night cravings, in-room microwaves and fridges make it easy to keep snacks on hand.

Nightlife Options

Though the hotel itself doesn’t feature live music or a bar, its proximity to Gas South Arena and Sugarloaf Mills means you’re never far from post-show drinks or a casual hangout. Several nearby lounges and restaurants offer easy options for continuing the night out.

What People Say

Guests consistently praise the clean, modern rooms and friendly staff. The location earns high marks for being incredibly convenient to the arena and local attractions. Travelers appreciate the value for money, especially with free breakfast and parking included. The hotel’s quiet, safe neighborhood is often mentioned as a plus for solo or late-night travelers.

Areas for Improvement

While the hotel delivers on basics, some guests mention that the soundproofing could be better—so light sleepers might want to pack earplugs. The lack of a bar or restaurant on-site means you’ll need to venture out for meals and drinks, but fortunately, options are close by.

The Bottom Line

If you're headed to a concert at Gas South Arena and want a clean, modern stay that’s walkable to the venue and easy on the wallet, City Express by Marriott Duluth hits all the right notes.

Great visit - we love La Quinta. Everything was great but need more food prepared for breakfast meal.

Liked: Staff; rooms; cleanliness.
Disliked: Ran out of food at breakfast bar; one day my wife and I had to split a single piece of sausage (the only one left).

Very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms were fantastic. Plan to visit again. You will not go wrong booking a room at the La Quinta in Duluth.

This place was a place away from home. It was clean; very welcoming manager and the staff were polite, friendly, kind and welcoming. The rooms were excellently clean - smelling and looking great; everything in the rooms worked and the shower water pressure was excellent for a long day out walking. Very convenient to get to the Infinity Energy Arena. Loved all of it. Breakfast was an A also. Thank you - will visit again and recommend it to anyone and everyone looking for a place to call home away from home.

Liked: Everything was perfect!
Disliked: Nothing was bad.

We love LaQuinta and would certainly stay again.

Liked: The staff were very courteous and helpful and the cleanliness and breakfast.
Disliked: The only thing we found that was troublesome was the fact that there were no handrails in the shower for holding onto to get out of tub afterwards. We felt that this is a very dangerous situation and an accident waiting to happen.

Disappointing - 2.0 out of 5

M, Pacolet, visiting Gas South Arena Wed, 8 June 2016

We paid full price for a hotel that was under construction on the hall we stayed. Drywall and drywall mud on the floor, and our room number was taped on the door. It was a mess!

Liked: The front desk attendant was very nice.
Disliked: The coffee area was a mess and the construction was a mess.

Christine H, Bonaire, visiting Gas South Arena Sun, 5 June 2016

We chose it because it was convenient to the Infinite Energy Center where we were seeing a concert. It was adequate for the purpose.

Liked: The room was clean; there were plenty of towels; our room was ready when we arrived; breakfast was adequate; pleasant staff.
Disliked: Very loud rattle in the fan of the A/C unit which cycled on and off all night; choice between too hot and too cold (we chose too cold); skimpy blankets (we pulled the blankets off the second bed); lumpy mattress; child training for the Olympics in the room above us at 7:00 am.
