The Spotlight on City Center Downtown

A Simple Downtown Stay Steps from Phoenix's Music Scene

City Center Downtown is a no-fuss, budget-friendly hotel located in the heart of downtown Phoenix. Just a mile from major sports and concert venues and only a few blocks from top entertainment destinations, this spot is ideal for fans who want to be close to the action without overspending. Rooms are straightforward but comfortable, with thoughtful extras like a fridge, microwave, and coffee maker.

Why Concert-goers love it

Being just a 5-minute walk from the Comerica Theater and only a mile from the Talking Stick Resort Arena means you can skip the rideshare and head straight to the show. Plus, with free parking on-site and a 24-hour front desk, coming back late after a gig is hassle-free. The vibe is quiet enough for a good night's sleep, but still central enough for a quick post-show bite or drink.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a wallet-friendly launchpad for a night out
  • Solo travelers checking off a dream performance
  • Couples planning a music-fueled weekend getaway
  • Fans wanting a quieter post-concert recovery space near the heart of the city
  • Budget-conscious music fans wanting location without the price tag

Food and Drink Options

While there’s no on-site restaurant, you're within walking distance of numerous fast food spots and casual eateries—perfect for a late-night bite. Each room comes with a microwave and fridge, so you can stash your leftovers or prep something quick after the show. Coffee-making facilities make for an easy morning start after a late night out.

Nightlife Options

City Center Downtown is centrally located, giving you access to downtown bars, lounges, and music venues all within walking distance. While the hotel doesn’t have a bar itself, you'll find plenty of vibrant spots nearby offering everything from craft cocktails to local brews.

What People Say

Guests rave about the excellent location for events, solid Wi-Fi, and the surprising quiet at night for a downtown hotel. Many mention the friendly front desk team and the convenience of having a fridge and microwave in the room. It’s not fancy, but it’s functional—and that’s exactly what many travelers are looking for.

Areas for Improvement

Rooms are a bit dated and the 10:00 AM checkout can feel early after a late night. Some guests mention that the décor could use a refresh, but most agree the price and location make up for it.

The Bottom Line

If you’re looking for a clean, no-frills place to crash after a concert in downtown Phoenix, City Center Downtown is a solid bet with unbeatable proximity and value.

Poor

Liked: The staff were very friendly and accommodating and the room was clean. You get what you pay for.
Disliked: Absolutely no amenities except soap. Towel (singular) but no wash cloth. Management does the best with what they've got which isn't much. Location seemed very iffy. Would not stay there more than 1 night.

Phoenix not worth your time...

Liked: Staff were pleasant and helpful, but that’s about as far as it goes.
Disliked: Phoenix seems to have a lot of homelessness - so didn’t feel safe staying in an open motel situation with our car easily accessible. There was homeless people sleeping on the balcony as you opened our door. Bedding was of very low quality and uncomfortable. Even towels felt cheap and like they were about to crumble away. Had a smell of cigarette smoke and our tv didn’t work - but the lovely receptionist came and got it working for us, but then it broke again.

Horrible.

Liked: Horrible. Had to ask for refund. Sheets stain everything nasty
Disliked: All of it
