Faded glory

Liked: Good breakfast and dinner
Disliked: More attention to cleanliness in a tired room with cracked tiles and flaking paint in bathroom and bedroom. Grubby and certainly not 5 star. Sound proofing poor, only 1 small window opened which was head height from outside this not private.

Not upto expectations.

Liked: Location and the refurbished parts of the building
Disliked: Certaiy not the 4 and sometimes 5star hotel its claimed to be. Having regularly stayed in such other hotels the Chateau Rhianfa from our experience its certainly no where near 4 or 5star standard. Our room, was little better than a Prem' Inn motel. With one tiny window. The room had no sound insulation. Could even hear the plug socket switches in adjacent rooms along with their EVERY word, footstep and fart, wee or flush. No air con in the lodge room we had, just an electric fan. Tea and coffee making was available as long as you only wanted one tea or one coffee. We made the mistake of having dinner in their restaurant Red Dragon. Burnt offerings best sums it up, roast potatoes were rock hard and overcooked, the Yorkshire pudding a brown tepid dried out crusty mess. The service whilst generally attentive was amateur. Not value for money at £45/head.Just avoid.

Very friendly staff, amazing setting,...

Liked: The building was amazing, interesting, full of little passage ways and is in a spectacular setting.
Disliked: Our room was a little underwhelming. lovely comfortable bed and great bathroom and shower. However I think thy could do more with the decor. There was a tatty blind on the window and the cushions on the bed were very old and tatty. Needed more colour and inspiration, we didn’t have a view either although so many areas in the chateau to admire the view.
