The Spotlight on Chieftain Hotel

Cozy Comforts and a Lively Vibe in Inverness

Modern yet welcoming, the Chieftain Hotel sits just a short drive from the heart of Inverness. With a relaxed atmosphere and a popular on-site sports bar, this B&B-style hotel blends comfort with local charm. Whether you're here for a show in the city or exploring the Highlands, it's a convenient and friendly base.

Why Concert-goers love it

Location is key, and the Chieftain delivers — just a 4-minute drive from Inverness city centre and the train station. That means easy access to top music venues with minimal hassle. After the show, unwind in the bar or your private room with free Wi-Fi and complimentary tea and biscuits. Free parking makes it a great pick for road-trippers, and the 2pm check-in gives you time to settle in before the night's events.

Who this Hotel is great for

- Groups of friends wanting a lively base with food, drink, and fun on-site
- Solo travelers catching a must-see gig in town
- Couples making a weekend of music and Highland charm
- Fans seeking a quieter escape after a loud night out
- Budget-conscious music lovers who want value without sacrificing comfort

Food and Drink Options

The Chieftain serves up hearty Scottish fare and global dishes throughout the day — perfect for grabbing a bite pre- or post-concert. While there's no 24/7 room service, the lively bar menu runs late, offering local favorites like Highland Chicken and Haggis, Neeps & Tatties. A cooked Scottish breakfast is served daily, ideal for a slow start after a big night.

Nightlife Options

With a built-in sports bar that's popular with locals and guests alike, you won’t need to venture far for a drink and a bit of buzz. Plus, Inverness city centre — with its pubs, lounges, and occasional live music — is just minutes away.

What People Say

Guests love the friendly staff, solid value, and generous breakfast portions. Many highlight the convenient location close to the city without the noise. Rooms are praised for being clean, comfortable, and well-equipped for short stays.

Areas for Improvement

The Chieftain isn’t a luxury hotel — think cozy and functional rather than fancy. Some guests mention the bar can get a bit lively during sports nights, so light sleepers may want to request a quieter room.

The Bottom Line

For concert-goers seeking a warm welcome, hearty food, and easy access to Inverness venues, the Chieftain Hotel hits all the right notes.

Perfect place, perfect staff.

Liked: It’s close to the city centre (15min on foot) and very easy to reach by car. It has a free car park, amazing bar and restaurant. The staff was very helpful, especially Karen. She was amazing, chatty, caring and full of energy.

Very disappointing, very basic for...

Liked: Bed was comfortable, staff were friendly enough but not enough of them
Disliked: Hotel could do with a bit TLC, paintwork, carpets etc very worn. Breakfast was disorganised, coffee was luke warm, not enough bread, butter and self service area was messy. Not enough staff looking after this area.

We would visit again, though...

Liked: Received a good welcome - dinner was first rate. Generous sized bed, and comfortable room .
Disliked: Toaster out of order at breakfast , caused the fire alarm to go off, no one left the building!Breakfast client was allowed to bring and keep a dog in the dining room despite the hotel's stated policy .Would have preferred a room at the back of the hotel.
