Liked: The rural location (handy for the M1 and Bletchely Park) and grand country house appearance attracted us from the booking.com page. Parking was convenient, and the staff were able to satisfy our request for a single room with bath. The internal decor was interesting if somewhat dated, Wifi was excellent. Staff directed us to The Chester Arms for supper which was excellent.
Disliked: Contact pre-visit was confusing: "we must book a supper time" followed by "there will be no supper". "Breakfast will be continental only" followed by "a full breakfast is available". The full breakfast was disappointing, with the scrambled egg more grey then yellow.On arrival we found both our rooms to be very cold (but they did warm up after some time). The window was filthy.Our double room had very poor lighting, only one chair, only one bedside table and - worst of all -a toilet which would not flush. A look inside the cistern revealed banks of chalk sludge. There was no internal telephone service. We checked out with confusion over the amount we had to pay.

Disliked: Lack of staff eg no staff when arrived for breakfast. No breakfast choice, had to request and wait for bread and butter for toast.No staff when arrived at hotel, bar souless.Room cramped

Very pleasant stay, a better...

Liked: Lovely setting, nice room. The grounds looked nice, with more time and better weather we would have liked to walk around them.
Disliked: Breakfast was a little disappointing. With only 4 guests having breakfast on our first day it was disappointing to have overcooked eggs, bacon and hash browns on our breakfast. We ran out of non decaf coffee, when we returned we tried to find someone to get some more, couldn't find anyone, left a note. By the morning we still hadn't got any so had to phone in to get some more.

Liked: Great setting, lovely private room for party and breakfast following morning.
Disliked: Bedroom was far too hot. Could not adjust heating.

Disliked: First room toilet wouldn’t flush Second room sink didn’t empty Wedding was happening but bar staff struggled to cope. Bothroom was freezing cold
