I was expecting a lot...

Liked: Lovely grounds and convenient to Blowing Rock and App State.
Disliked: The hotel is dated. Some rooms have been renovated others have not. Don’t book rooms on the 2nd floor that look out to the parking area, besides not being renovated the view is unpleasant and offers no privacy unless you keep the curtains shut. The restaurant is bad. Full stop. Over priced and food ranges from mediocre to terrible. Make the 5 min drive to blowing rock for better dining options. Same goes for the buffet breakfast. An important note, I was given the 2nd floor “hillside view” and when I asked to be move to another room, I was told they were completely booked. I checked bookings.com and the resorts website and found that there were rooms available after all. I went down to reception and pointed out that their own website listed available rooms and ask them to refresh their search and magically I was moved to a better room.

Loved Blowing Rock and all...

Liked: Thought the buffet breakfast was excellent.Also enjoyed the wine stand!
Disliked: Our room was not clean, and we had to let them know it needed more attention. We were told housekeeping was new and in training.My biggest concern was the goose droppings that we dodged walking around the lake really needed to be picked up. This was unsanitary and so much that it was difficult to avoid stepping in it.

Disliked: There are dog poops on the trail

Liked: the rooms were spacious and the whole property was very beautiful!! Very secluded yet close to attractions and downtown Blowing rock and boone.
Disliked: The room we got was overlooking the parking lot eventhough at the desk they said you would have a nice view with mountains! The beds were very soft !! not for everyone!!

Disliked: The fact they kept increasing price for this specific weekend’s stay.Had requested early check in especially due to long drive getting there and event we needed to attend. They never contacted me or made an attempt to get me in my room early.I emailed, called & showed up early.No cold water pressure in bathroom.Pool area was dirty.
