Chequers Inn Hotel

The Chequers is ideally located for the South of England Showground. However, despite being competitively priced, it needs to up it's game. The rooms are a good size but they were quite dirty. Uncovered quilts were stuffed under beds on an unvacuumed carpet.

Liked: Tiffany the receptionist was extremely helpful.
Disliked: The room was dirty!

Good value for a single...

Liked: The place is in the middle of a re-Ferb. The guy who owns it is really committed to getting it good so I’m sure in a year or so it will be a lovely place to stay. But all very friendly.

Liked: Exciting 15th-century house with partially renovated rooms, a charming bar, a wonderful fireplace room, and a very friendly host.
Disliked: Teilweise renovierungsbedürftig, aber der Gastgeber arbeitet daran.

A very disappointing stay, needs...

Liked: Not a lot, The staff were very friendly when we arrived, unfortunately that's about it. They did assit with getting our bags collected and moved onto the next destination.
Disliked: The place was in darkness when we arrived despite it still being light outside, we discovered that the 'pub' side of the business has actually closed so they were only doing rooms. Everything very dated, my room was very dirty, half a biscuit on the floor under a chair, stains on the pillows, dreadful shower, a real feeling of the whole place. We had enter and leave the premises via the rear service area where the laundry and bins are stored.

Liked: Owner was a great guy.
Disliked: It’s under construction but I like that about the experience. I know they are improving it after many years.

Disliked: Shower didn't work. Leak everywhere.No milk to make tea, asked receptionist didn't have any. Went to supermarket to buy milk.

A Staff member went above...

Liked: A staff member (Tiffany) was incredibly helpful!She helped me find a place to park, check in, reccomended a place to eat and I even got a WhatsApp chat with her for if i needed anything! She really went above and beyond and I really appreciated it as I am travelling on my own and don't know the area! My room was also upgraded, which was greatly appreciated even though I was only there for such a short time
Disliked: It was unfortunate that due to low staffing, the pub was closed, and the staff were spread thin. The Internet also did not work in the evening but did in the early morning, so I am assuming this was due to the number on user's actively using it during the same period of time

Liked: Was in the same street as my daughter’s home.
Disliked: Beds & pillows weren’t that comfy. Shower was average.
