The Hotel Chalet at The Choo Choo

Hotel was clean and staff were helpful and friendly. Walls are very thin. We could hear every word our neighbors were saying at night when we were trying to go to sleep.

Disliked: The walls were very thin. Our neighbors stayed up late playing games and laughing and having a good time and we could hear every word they said.

Disliked: The train car smelled funky. The air filter in the car was totally covered in old clumpyt dust. The front desk staff was not at all helpful. She sent us in the wrong direction to look for our train car in the rain. She could not clearly explain where we could and could not park. She made it sound like the front desk would close when her shift ended when I had read it was 24 hours. When I called about room service, she said it did not exist when i had read the on-site restaurant provided in room dining and they did let us but drinks and bring them to our room. The 12 ounce coca colas & beers in the fridge cost $6 each. there was a bottle of welcome wine I did not drink b/c i did not know what it would cost and no one answered when i asked. It was 2.5% alcohol. We had a really really hard time finding parking. we had a really really hard time finding our train car. It was not a welcoming experience. When we went to eat at the onsite Restaurant at 7PM on Sat evening, there were 2 other small tables of people and a few people at the bar. we were greeted very friendly but despite all the empty tables, we were placed in the least comfortable open table there. all the chairs had cushions but mine. our table was smack dab in the middle with my husband’s chair at the edge of the walkway from the entrance through to rest of the space. My chair was at the edge of where a very visible water leak was dripping mostly into a planter but occasionally on my head. the ceiling was literally buckled several inches in from this leak. the menu was small but we learned it would be even smaller for us. We were told upon entry that the only options were the french fries, shrimp appetizer, and hamburger b/c of a wedding in the hotel. my husband told me during the time we were there he heard tables seated after us ordering from the full menu.
