Liked: This was my second stay at Chateau St. Denis. Both were enjoyable. The hotel is convenient to the historic downtown area. We were able to walk to restaurants and shops.
Disliked: The first evening the elevators was not working requiring us to carry our luggage upstairs. This would not been a problem but my partner is recovering from hip replacement. Fortunately, the elevators were working by the next morning. The floor in the suite seemed to have a slick coating. Most likely something that was used to clean the floor. It felt as if it was oiled.

Beautiful old hotel in town...

Liked: Beautiful old hotel in good condition, rooms are clean enough, staff is friendly enough, breakfast was very good, location is great.
Disliked: We were told at checkin that the elevators weren't working. They only offered to cancel the stay with full refund. I asked for free drinks and they agreed, but we thought that should have been offered to all guests. They fixed one of the elevators by morning, so problem was promptly addressed.

Liked: The best thing about the hotel is its location. What staff they have did the best they could but they are totally understaffed.
Disliked: The room was dirty, poorly equipped lacking bath mat and hairdryer and was not well insulated. We could hear all our noisy neighbors late into the night. The elevators were broken forcing many elderly customers to deal with getting luggage up and down stairs. The entry only allows a single stream of cars which results in constant bottlenecks.

Disliked: Elevators wasn't working and the breakfast was terrible. Everybody don't eat grits and if you going serve them at lease know how to cook them. They only had water down grits. eggs and piece bread they didn't even have any black pepper no salt pepper shaker on table. I been going to this hotel for several years and I can see the difference, and parking is very bad.

Disliked: Only issue I had this week was with housekeeping. After several request on different days, they were no compliant with restocking the bathroom shower dispensers. Thankfully the downstairs host were able to accommodate and provide us with bottles to use. Housekeeping also failed to properly pick up all of the soiled towels. Other than that our stay is always great.
